Groundbreaking Ceremony for DMG MORI’s European Headquarters in Munich

On 10 September 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the “Go Four It” business quarter marked the official start of construction for DMG MORI’s future European headquarters, a major milestone for the renowned machine tool manufacturer.

The event, organized by developers RH Unternehmensgruppe and Competo Capital Partners, was attended by notable figures, including State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt from the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, Munich’s Economic Affairs Officer Clemens Baumgärtner, Japanese Consul General in Munich Kenichi Bessho, and JETRO Munich’s General Director Jun Washizawa.

Dr. Masahiko Mori, President of DMG MORI, expressed enthusiasm about the construction launch, stating, “As a global technology company with a presence around the world, choosing Munich for our European headquarters underscores our commitment to the European market and Germany as a business hub. This headquarters will serve as a central hub for customers, partners, employees, and young talent.”

The centerpiece of the new headquarters will be a 1,500-square-meter showroom featuring cutting-edge machine tools and automation solutions. Irene Bader, Member of the Board at DMG MORI, emphasized the importance of the facility, saying, “Our goal is to highlight mechanical engineering as a key industry. We are bringing technology to Munich and making it accessible to all. The excellent collaboration with RH Unternehmensgruppe has been instrumental in making this a reality.”

State Secretary Gotthardt praised DMG MORI’s commitment, remarking, “DMG MORI is setting a strong example of German-Japanese cooperation and demonstrating a dedication to Bavaria as a business location. Together, we will continue to promote Bavaria as a high-tech region.”

Clemens Baumgärtner, Economic Affairs Officer of the City of Munich, added, “I am proud to keep companies like DMG MORI in Munich. The ‘D’ in DMG MORI reflects the legacy of the Deckel company, which has a rich history in our city. The manufacturing industry is essential to Munich’s success.”

The “Go Four It” business district, located in northern Munich near the Olympia shopping center, is designed to meet state-of-the-art standards and provide a future-oriented work environment. DMG MORI will occupy one of the innovative buildings on Hanauer Strasse, boasting a floor area of 10,000 square meters, starting in 2026. Thanks to its central European location and excellent global flight connections, the Munich site is poised to become a hub for international exchange and collaboration.

The new headquarters will also feature a showroom for the latest technologies, which will be used for customer applications, training sessions, and guided tours. Until the new building is completed, DMG MORI will operate from office space in Parkstadt Schwabing, Munich.
