Friday 20 March 2020, 2:36:17 PM

The Hut Group says it is creating more than 500 new jobs to support people affected by the turmoil of the Coronavirus (Covid-19). The British e-commerce company with headquarters near Manchester Airport operates over 100 international websites selling Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) direct to consumers through its proprietary e-commerce platforms.

The company has witnessed a major increase in product demand and the result is that the company is now planning to bring forward recruitment plans that were initially pencilled in for later in the year.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of THG, Mr Matthew Moulding is reported as saying the company is planning to help individuals in the North West that have recently lost their jobs as result of the COVID-19 situation. Mr Moulding has said: “Some big employers have had to make incredibly tough decisions in recent days, leaving a worrying number of people out of work at a vulnerable time. Our message is that we will look to do whatever we can to help, and so we are bringing forward our recruitment plans. We are now hiring across our manufacturing and logistics sites with immediate effect.”

The online retail business has claimed the permanent positions will be in the manufacturing, fulfilment and logistics divisions with upwards of 350 jobs based in Warrington.
