Jergens Unveils Dual-Pattern QL2 Pallet for Seamless Quick-Change Workholding!
By Ashutosh Arora
Jergens, a recognized leader in workholding and tooling solutions, has expanded its popular Quick-Loc quick-change product line with the introduction of a versatile new addition — the QL2 combination pallet. Engineered to streamline machining operations and reduce setup time, the QL2 features a dual-pattern configuration that incorporates both 96-mm and 52-mm hole patterns into a single unit. This innovative solution offers unmatched flexibility, allowing it to seamlessly accommodate both industry-standard mounting configurations across a wide range of applications.
At the heart of the Quick-Loc system is its four-pull stud interface, which simplifies fixture changeovers by enabling top tooling to be securely clamped and precisely located to a base receiver in just one step. The user simply inserts the pull studs into the receiver and tightens the clamping screw, making the setup process highly efficient and repeatable.
The QL2 pallet enhances this system by combining two of the most common mounting standards, enabling manufacturers to consolidate tooling setups, reduce part inventory, and easily adapt to various fixture types without needing to switch between dedicated components. This dual-pattern functionality makes the QL2 especially valuable for job shops and high-mix, low-volume environments that require flexibility and rapid changeovers.
Designed for use in horizontal, vertical, and rotary machining operations, the QL2 pallet and the overall Quick-Loc system are built for precision and durability. These low-profile adapters and pallets deliver exceptional repeatability of up to 0.0003 inches and generate powerful clamping forces of nearly 14,000 lbs. They are manufactured from case-hardened steel, ensuring high rigidity and long-lasting performance even in demanding machining environments.
The QL2 is also compatible with Jergens’ compact 130-mm self-centering vises, offering improved machining access and even faster changeover capabilities. This compatibility expands the system’s utility across a wider range of parts and processes, enhancing productivity and operational efficiency.
Jergens offers the Quick-Loc system in a variety of shapes and sizes — including square, rectangular, and round receivers — in both the 52-mm and 96-mm mounting patterns. With the introduction of the QL2 combination pallet, users can now access the benefits of both configurations in a single, all-in-one solution.
As manufacturing continues to evolve toward more agile, automated, and high-precision operations, workholding systems like Jergens’ Quick-Loc QL2 offer a vital edge. By reducing setup time, increasing repeatability, and simplifying fixture management, the QL2 helps manufacturers meet shorter lead times, increase spindle uptime, and maintain high levels of quality in every cycle.
