Wilton has expanded its Apprentice Vise lineup with six models designed to deliver durability, versatility, and affordability for small workshops and maintenance environments. The updated range is targeted at small shop owners, automotive technicians, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) professionals who require reliable clamping solutions for everyday tasks.

The expanded lineup introduces three new models—a 5-inch vise, a heavy-duty 6-inch version, and a compact 3-inch clamp-on vise—joining the existing 4-inch and 6-inch models along with a 5.5-inch multi-purpose vise. This broader offering allows users to select tools based on workspace constraints, application requirements, and clamping force needs, making the range suitable for both light-duty and more demanding tasks.

Designed with direct input from end users, the vises—except for the 3-inch clamp-on model—feature a fully enclosed bullet-style construction. This design enhances durability by protecting internal components from debris while maintaining consistent clamping performance over time. The robust build quality is further supported by castings that are up to twice as strong as standard grey cast iron, ensuring longer service life and resistance to wear in demanding environments.

Across the lineup, Wilton has incorporated several features aimed at improving usability and performance. A precision slide bar ensures smooth jaw movement, while a mechanical locking base with a full 360-degree swivel allows users to position workpieces easily. Uniform clamping pressure enhances grip and stability, and replaceable hardened steel jaws provide extended usability and reduced maintenance costs. An integrated anvil work surface adds further functionality, enabling light hammering and forming tasks without the need for additional equipment.

Select models in the range also include advanced features such as dual lockdown mechanisms for enhanced stability and a four-bolt mounting pattern for secure installation. These additions make the vises adaptable to a variety of workbench setups and operational requirements.

Clamping force varies across the models to accommodate different applications. The compact 3-inch clamp-on vise delivers up to 1,800 pounds of force, making it suitable for lighter tasks and portable use, while the heavy-duty 6-inch model offers up to 9,900 pounds of clamping force for more demanding applications requiring higher stability and strength.

Overall, the expanded Apprentice Vise lineup reflects Wilton’s focus on delivering practical, user-driven solutions that balance performance and affordability. By offering a wider range of sizes and capabilities, the company is enabling small shops and maintenance professionals to access reliable, high-quality tools that support efficiency and productivity in everyday operations.
