In a significant stride toward local manufacturing and industrial innovation, TRUMPF, the global technology leader in machine tools and laser systems, has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India. Located in Nighoje, Pune, this new plant marks a bold step in the company’s India strategy and underscores its support for the Government of India’s flagship ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by TRUMPF’s senior leadership, including Stephan Mayer, CEO – Machine Tools and Member of the Management Board, TRUMPF Germany; Till Kueppers, COO – Machine Tools, TRUMPF Germany; Pradeep Patil, Managing Director, TRUMPF India; and Mohammed Hidayath, Director – Sales, TRUMPF India. Speaking at the event, Mr. Mayer affirmed the company’s commitment to India, stating, “This new manufacturing unit in Pune is an investment in India’s future as a global manufacturing hub.”
The Pune facility will initially manufacture the TruBend 1000 series—a line of high-performance bending machines known for their efficiency and affordability. In a move to deepen localisation, TRUMPF also plans to begin local production of its TruLaser 1000 series by the end of 2025. These offerings combine German engineering excellence with cost-effectiveness, tailored specifically for India’s dynamic manufacturing landscape.
By manufacturing locally, TRUMPF aims to shorten supply chains, reduce lead times, and deliver customised sheet metal processing solutions to Indian customers. This shift not only enhances operational responsiveness but also contributes directly to India’s economic self-reliance and industrial growth.
Pradeep Patil, Managing Director of TRUMPF India, credited the company’s long-standing customers and partners for making this milestone possible. “The trust and support of our customers have been instrumental in achieving this major step. Their encouragement has truly driven us forward,” he noted.
Since launching operations in India in 2006, TRUMPF has steadily expanded its footprint. The company now operates two state-of-the-art Experience Centres in Pune and Bengaluru, a Laser Application Lab, and maintains four warehouses to ensure rapid nationwide service. Backed by a dedicated 23-member support team, TRUMPF India delivers over 15,000 shipments annually and serves more than 700 customers across the country.
This new manufacturing facility not only represents a key chapter in TRUMPF’s India journey but also signals a broader commitment to advancing smart manufacturing, local innovation, and technology-driven growth in the Indian subcontinent. As the company ramps up local production, Indian manufacturers can look forward to faster access to world-class technology—designed, built, and supported right here in India.
