Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Breaks Ground on Integrated Mega Facility in Bengaluru!

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has announced the groundbreaking of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, marking a major expansion of its operations in India. This greenfield investment is set to increase the company’s production capacity by 30 percent while reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian market.

Spread across a 50,000 square meter campus, the facility is expected to be completed by 2027 and will, for the first time, integrate the company’s full range of capabilities under one roof. These include advanced manufacturing, research and development, application engineering, a Customer Solutions Center, supply chain operations, and global IT services. This integrated model is designed to enhance collaboration, improve efficiency, and accelerate time-to-market for customers.

Having established its presence in India in 2005 with its first manufacturing unit in Bengaluru, Trelleborg has steadily expanded its footprint over the past two decades. The new facility builds on this legacy, positioning the company as a key player capable of delivering a wide portfolio of sealing solutions locally for both domestic and global markets.

The plant will feature a built-up area of 30,000 square meters, housing advanced production technologies across multiple product lines. These include PTFE components, rotary shaft seals, mechanical face seals, and polyurethane-based solutions, catering to industries such as aerospace, automotive, agriculture, construction, fluid power, industrial automation, oil and gas, railways, and semiconductors.

A major highlight of the campus is its dedicated research and development center, equipped with advanced materials and testing laboratories. This facility will enable faster product development, in-depth analysis, and innovation aligned with global standards, supporting both local customization and international requirements.

The facility is being designed to meet stringent global certifications, including AS/EN 9100, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, reflecting Trelleborg’s strong focus on quality, safety, and environmental responsibility. Sustainability is also a key priority, with the plant incorporating energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible practices.

The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities while contributing to regional economic development. MB Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the state’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.

According to Jürgen Bosch, President of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, the new facility represents a strategic step toward unifying operations and strengthening customer service. By centralizing capabilities, the company aims to accelerate innovation, enhance responsiveness, and expand into emerging sectors such as aerospace in India.
