Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has further strengthened its commitment to community development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to enhance education, skill development, and healthcare initiatives across the state. The partnership is expected to positively impact more than 9.67 lakh people, reinforcing Toyota’s long-standing focus on creating sustainable social value through targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

The agreement represents a significant milestone in Toyota’s efforts to contribute to inclusive growth and community empowerment in Gujarat. Through a combination of educational infrastructure, digital learning initiatives, vocational training programmes, and healthcare support, the company aims to address critical social needs while creating opportunities for long-term development.

The MoU was signed in the presence of prominent government leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in driving meaningful social impact and supporting the state’s development goals.

A key component of the initiative focuses on expanding access to quality education and learning resources. As part of its efforts, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has supported the establishment of modern community libraries across Gujarat. These facilities have been designed to serve as accessible learning centres for students, professionals, and community members of all age groups. Equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, CCTV surveillance systems, and solar-powered infrastructure, the libraries provide a safe and comfortable environment for education and self-development. The initiative is expected to benefit more than three lakh learners by encouraging reading habits, knowledge sharing, and lifelong learning.

Recognising the growing importance of digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world, Toyota has also launched an innovative Mobile Computer Education Electric Bus in Surat. The initiative is designed to bridge the digital divide by bringing computer education directly to students in underserved and rural areas. The specially equipped electric bus will provide hands-on training in computer applications, digital skills, and basic technology literacy, helping students gain the knowledge needed to participate in an increasingly digital economy.

The programme will cover five blocks within Surat district and is expected to benefit approximately 8,000 students. By improving access to digital education, the initiative seeks to empower young learners with practical skills that can enhance future educational and employment opportunities.

In addition to education, Toyota’s CSR efforts place strong emphasis on skill development and workforce readiness. Under the newly signed agreement, the company is expanding its Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jamnagar. The programme is designed to equip students with industry-relevant technical skills and practical training aligned with modern automotive technologies.

The T-TEP initiative will provide advanced automotive service and maintenance training across 29 trades, including Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Fitter, Painter, and several other technical disciplines. By offering hands-on learning opportunities and exposure to industry best practices, the programme aims to improve employability and create a skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of the automotive sector. Approximately 3,700 students are expected to benefit from this initiative, enhancing their career prospects and supporting local economic development.

Healthcare forms another important pillar of the partnership. Toyota Kirloskar Motor is extending support to Community Health Centres in Rajkot by providing essential medical equipment and infrastructure. The initiative aims to strengthen healthcare delivery in rural and semi-urban areas where access to quality medical facilities often remains a challenge.

The upgraded equipment is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities, patient care, and overall healthcare services, benefiting nearly 6.5 lakh people. By supporting healthcare institutions at the community level, Toyota seeks to contribute to better health outcomes and improve the quality of life for underserved populations.

Commenting on the initiative, Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Governance at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, reiterated the company’s commitment to holistic community development. He emphasised that Toyota’s CSR philosophy extends beyond business operations and focuses on creating sustainable and meaningful social impact. He also acknowledged the support of the Government of Gujarat in enabling the successful implementation of these initiatives and expressed the company’s commitment to continuing such programmes in the future.

The new MoU reflects Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s broader vision of fostering inclusive growth through education, skill development, and healthcare interventions. By investing in human capital and community well-being, the company is helping create stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant communities across Gujarat. As these initiatives reach hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries, they are expected to contribute significantly to the state’s social and economic development while reinforcing Toyota’s role as a responsible corporate citizen committed to building a better future.
