Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has partnered with Wipro 3D to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in additive manufacturing at the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) in Bidadi. The collaboration is aimed at strengthening industry–academia integration and building future-ready skills in advanced manufacturing technologies.

The initiative reflects a shared vision to develop a highly skilled workforce equipped with practical expertise in additive manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies. By integrating cutting-edge technologies into structured training programs, the CoE will provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world industrial applications, bridging the gap between classroom learning and manufacturing environments.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior leaders from both organisations. Key representatives from TKM included Hiroki Ando and Lakshmikeshava Shastry, while Pratik Kumar, Shripad Ramanathan, Yathiraj Kasal, and Deepak represented Wipro 3D.

At the core of this partnership is a strong focus on skill development, innovation, and applied learning. The CoE will offer a range of initiatives including internships, apprenticeships, live industry projects, certification programs, and technical workshops. Wipro 3D will contribute its domain expertise, enabling workforce upskilling through structured training modules and knowledge-sharing platforms.

The centre will also support advanced applications such as rapid prototyping, production aids development, lightweight component manufacturing, and on-demand part production. These capabilities are expected to accelerate new product development cycles, improve assembly line efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance manufacturing flexibility.

A key aspect of the program is its emphasis on continuous improvement through Kaizen principles, alongside the adoption of digital manufacturing, smart systems, and resource optimization strategies. This holistic approach ensures that students and trainees are not only technically skilled but also aligned with modern manufacturing philosophies.

According to G Shankara, Chief Strategy Officer at TKM, the collaboration aligns with Toyota’s core philosophy of continuous improvement and respect for people. He highlighted that the initiative will play a vital role in nurturing skilled talent and supporting India’s manufacturing ecosystem under the Skill India mission.

Yathiraj Kasal added that the partnership reflects Wipro 3D’s commitment to capability building and innovation, while creating industry-relevant learning experiences that prepare the next generation of engineers.

Overall, the CoE represents a significant step toward strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing capabilities. By combining industry expertise with structured training, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Wipro 3D are contributing to the development of a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and competitiveness in the evolving manufacturing landscape.
