Super Smelters Ltd. Partners with TATA Power Renewables for Green Steel Production in Eastern India

Super Smelters Ltd., a leading manufacturer of iron and steel products known for its flagship brand ‘Super Shakti,’ has announced a strategic partnership with TATA Power Renewables to promote renewable energy in Eastern India. This collaboration aims to achieve 100% green power for steel production, significantly reducing CO2 emissions in the region.

The partnership, formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), will see the commissioning of a 5MW capacity renewable energy project. This groundbreaking initiative is set to generate 147,014 MWh of clean energy, demonstrating both companies’ commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By integrating renewable energy sources into the steel production process, Super Smelters Ltd. and TATA Power Renewables are setting a new benchmark in the industry, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.

The transition to green power is expected to result in a substantial reduction of carbon emissions, with projections indicating a decrease of up to 120,110 tons. This initiative underscores the companies’ dedication to combating climate change and reflects their proactive approach to fostering sustainable development in Eastern India. This move aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of achieving net zero by 2070.

Super Smelters Ltd. has already commissioned 245 kW, bringing the total capacity to 5.245 MW. This partnership not only highlights the company’s innovative approach to manufacturing but also its leadership in promoting renewable energy within the industry.
