Smart Robotics Unveils New PLC-Enabled Autonomous Transport Robots to Enhance Manufacturing Efficiency!

Smart Robotics, a pioneering robot development venture based in Tokyo, has announced the release of two new autonomous transport robot models designed to revolutionize the manufacturing and logistics sectors. The new models, SR-AMR-SWD300 and SR-AMR-SWD650, are capable of transporting 300kg and 650kg loads respectively, and can be customized with features such as automatic lift-up and towing to meet specific customer requirements.

The latest addition to Smart Robotics’ lineup, the SR-AMR-SWD series, boasts enhanced control capabilities through its seamless integration with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This linkage feature simplifies the operation of the robots, making them more user-friendly and efficient for industrial applications. Additionally, the robots are equipped with IDEC Corporation’s ISO-compliant products, significantly enhancing safety standards. The base price for these autonomous transport robots starts at 4.5 million yen (excluding tax), excluding any customizations.

One of the primary challenges in the deployment of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in manufacturing processes, such as those used in the automotive industry, is the need for inductors like magnetic tapes and the difficulty in modifying layouts. Smart Robotics addresses these issues with its new SR-AMR-SWD series, which eliminates the need for extensive layout changes and reduces the dependency on specialized inductors. The company anticipates selling 100 unitsin the first year and 300 units by the third year, with plans to introduce additional heavy-load transport robots capable of handling up to 1,000kg by autumn 2025.
