All-new Premium British Electric Vehicle Brand Launches
Perseus, a new British-headquartered premium passenger-car EV brand, has today emerged from stealth mode and announced…
Škoda Auto has officially commenced the assembly of its new full electric Enyaq at its primary manufacturing facility in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. Following the launch of the all-new Elroq, the Enyaq family becomes the second model to feature Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, which embodies “robustness, functionality, and authenticity.” Alongside this, the new Enyaq boasts enhanced aerodynamics for an improved driving range, sustainable interior materials, and new digital features. With a daily output capacity of up to 300 models, the Mladá Boleslav plant will produce a significant number of these cutting-edge vehicles.
Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto, highlighted the significance of this milestone: “The start of production for the new Enyaq family marks a very special moment for our production teams. As Škoda’s first MEB-based model, its predecessor played a crucial role in shaping the processes that we benefit from today.”
Dick further emphasized the transformation of Škoda Auto’s production capabilities: “We have extensively adapted our facilities, enabling us to build both fully electric vehicles and the Octavia on a single production line. Producing the new Enyaq family at our main plant in Mladá Boleslav reinforces our commitment to the Czech Republic and strengthens the country’s role as a key player in the European automotive industry.”
The new Enyaq, built on the Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB), rolls off the production line at Škoda Auto’s state-of-the-art Mladá Boleslav plant. This facility is the first in the Volkswagen Group to produce both internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) models on the same line, allowing for quick adjustments to shifting consumer demands. In addition to assembling the new Enyaq and Elroq, the plant also manufactures battery systems for these MEB-based models, which are also used in electric vehicles from other Volkswagen brands.
The new Enyaq family, a successor to Škoda’s first all-electric production model, is available with two battery sizes and three powertrain configurations, offering outputs ranging from 204PS to 286PS (150kW to 210kW). The Enyaq 60 and Enyaq 85 come with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, while the Enyaq 85x adds a second motor at the front for all-wheel drive capabilities.
Aerodynamic improvements, including optimized air curtains, new wheels, and a sealed gap between the radiator and grille, have significantly reduced the drag coefficient. The Enyaq Coupé achieves an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.229, while the standard Enyaq reaches 0.245, resulting in an extended driving range of up to 365 miles (WLTP) for the Enyaq Coupé and up to 359 miles for the standard Enyaq.
Škoda’s latest model is not only a step forward in the company’s electric mobility journey but also a testament to its ongoing dedication to sustainability, innovation, and the future of automotive manufacturing.
