Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has announced the establishment of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility at Horizon Industrial Park in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This facility, strategically located near Shoolagiri along the Bangalore–Chennai National Highway, will allow Schneider Electric to efficiently serve both the Bengaluru and Chennai markets, significantly enhancing the company’s operational efficiencies.
The 500,000 square-foot facility will primarily focus on the production and distribution of critical components for Schneider Electric’s IT Business, including Battery Management Systems (BMS), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, Power Distribution Units (PDU), and cooling systems. This new development is expected to significantly bolster Schneider Electric’s manufacturing capabilities, sales, and trading operations within the region.
The project will unfold in two phases, with Horizon Industrial Parks, supported by Blackstone Real Estate funds, playing a key role in its execution. Phase one will feature a state-of-the-art, dust-free facility, equipped with modern office space, advanced fire safety systems, and increased industrial power capacity. The facility will support an initial workforce of 1,500 employees. In phase two, a customized, high-spec facility tailored to Schneider Electric’s operational needs will be built, with completion expected within the next seven months.
Deepak Sharma, Zone President for Greater India and MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering a self-reliant India, or “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” stating, “This new facility will enhance our manufacturing capabilities, incorporate cutting-edge technologies, and further our sustainable practices. It will also contribute significantly to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
The facility will be pre-certified ‘Platinum’ by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), underlining Schneider Electric’s dedication to sustainability. The building will feature eco-friendly elements such as rooftop solar panels for thermal efficiency, advanced insulation, skylights for natural lighting, and improved ventilation systems. Additionally, the building will include EV charging stations, HVAC controls, and smart lighting sensors integrated into the energy management system. Schneider Electric plans to install additional solar panels in the future to further reduce its carbon footprint.
Urvish Rambhia, Principal at Blackstone Real Estate, expressed excitement about the partnership: “We are thrilled to support Schneider Electric’s growth in India. By providing tailored, high-quality industrial solutions, we aim to foster the expansion of global and local companies in the Indian market.”
This strategic expansion underscores Schneider Electric’s long-term commitment to India’s manufacturing sector, focusing on innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainable practices. The new facility in Hosur is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in India, in line with the country’s evolving manufacturing landscape.
