Renishaw and IDEKO Inaugurate New Solutions Centre in Spain to Drive Innovation in Advanced Manufacturing

A global-leading metrology company, Renishaw, and the IDEKO research centre have officially inaugurated a new Renishaw Solutions Centre in Elgoibar (Gipuzkoa), Spain. This new facility is designed to accelerate the development of innovative solutions in advanced manufacturing, enhancing research and development (R&D) capabilities in the region.

Key Highlights:

• Location & Purpose: The Solutions Centre is situated within the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) member centre and forms part of a collaboration agreement signed between Renishaw and IDEKO at the 2024 International Machine Tool Exhibition in Bilbao, Spain.
• Technologies Showcased: During the inauguration, various cutting-edge technologies were presented, including:
  • Three-dimensional measurement systems
  • Production process control solutions
  • Metal additive manufacturing (AM) technologies
  • Machine tool calibration and industrial robot calibration solutions
• Collaboration & Vision: The collaboration between Renishaw Ibérica and IDEKO aims to further advance the development of technologies for more efficient and precise manufacturing. Rafael Lizarralde, managing director of IDEKO, emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two organizations and the opportunity to expand their R&D activities together. Pedro Durán, managing director of Renishaw Ibérica, highlighted the shared “innovative DNA” of both companies and the role of the Solutions Centre in showcasing Renishaw’s advanced technologies that improve manufacturing processes.
• Strategic Partnerships: A long-term partnership agreement was signed between Renishaw and IDEKO, with additional collaboration involving Danobatgroup, a prominent industrial group specializing in machine tools. The goal of this partnership is to integrate and apply Renishaw’s technological solutions across various production lines and machine tool products.

Future Plans:

The Solutions Centre is set to play a pivotal role in driving innovation within the Danobatgroup and Renishaw UK teams, enabling further industry applications of these advanced technologies. Although the collaboration is initially for three years, both companies envision a broader, longer-term partnership aimed at accelerating the implementation of cutting-edge solutions in industrial settings.
