Paul Horn’s Technology Days 2025 Draws Over 3,000 Visitors to Showcase Innovation in Precision Tooling

Leading precision tooling manufacturer Paul Horn GmbH welcomed more than 3,300 visitors from 33 countries to its headquarters in Tübingen for its ninth biennial Technology Days Open House (14–16 May 2025). Represented in the UK by Horn Cutting Tools Ltd, based in Ringwood, the company hosted a comprehensive programme of live demonstrations, expert talks, and technology showcases, reaffirming its leadership in advanced tooling solutions.

The three-day event featured six specialist presentations under the theme “Mastering Processes in Theory and Practice,” each supported by live machining demonstrations. Topics included aluminium machining with PCD tools, small bore machining, grooving, parting-off, form grooving, and turn-milling, allowing visitors to deepen their understanding of complex machining applications.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage more directly through moderated demonstrations in three dedicated live production areas. Additional presentations showcased Horn’s internal product configuration systems and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) — both available for visitors to explore and test hands-on.

Demonstrating the scope and diversity of Horn’s tooling capabilities, more than 60 precision-engineered components were on display, produced using Horn tools for a range of industries. These included parts from pasta machines, braking systems for intercity trains, and a combustion chamber for the Ariane rocket engine. Twenty components were also machined live on-site across multiple machines, offering real-time insights into production quality and process optimisation.

Visitors were given exclusive access to Horn’s two manufacturing plants in Tübingen, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the end-to-end process of insert production. A dedicated exhibition by Horn Hartstoffe GmbH provided an in-depth view of the journey from raw powder to finished blanks.

The event also included presentations on the TransKI and MetaLearn projects — government-funded research initiatives supported by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) — further underlining Horn’s commitment to digital transformation and innovation.

Markus Horn, Managing Director of Paul Horn GmbH, said:
“The Horn Technology Days 2025 were a complete success. The feedback from our guests not only confirmed this, but more than exceeded our expectations. We are already looking forward to 2027, when it will be time to welcome visitors again.”
