NxtWave, in collaboration with TIER IV and the Autoware Foundation, has launched SkillUp India 4.0, an initiative aimed at building the world’s largest autonomous vehicle (AV) developer community. This partnership is designed to position India as a leader in the global Physical AI revolution by equipping Indian youth with future-ready skills in autonomous vehicle technology, bridging the gap between academic curriculum and industry needs.
Physical AI integrates artificial intelligence with real-world systems to transform sectors such as transportation, logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing. This initiative aims to address the increasing demand for AI-enabled mobility while providing experiential learning opportunities for young innovators.
The AV Developer Community initiative will tackle key challenges in India’s talent pipeline, such as awareness gaps about AV technology, the industry-academia disconnect, and the need for a globally competitive workforce in AI-driven mobility. The program will ensure inclusivity through both offline and online learning models, offering localized content in regional languages to empower students from across India.
While focused on the AV sector, this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on adjacent industries like logistics, healthcare, and agriculture. Potential applications include driverless trucks, autonomous medical drones, and autonomous tractors. The program also aligns with the Indian government’s vision for emerging technologies, which could pave the way for regulatory frameworks and public-private partnerships to scale pilot projects into national initiatives.
Rahul Attuluri, Founder and CEO of NxtWave, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to announce this partnership, which aligns perfectly with our mission to create a future-ready workforce. By merging NxtWave’s extensive upskilling framework with TIER IV and Autoware’s cutting-edge open-source technology, we are confident in our ability to transform India’s position in AV and Physical AI innovation.”
With this initiative, India is poised to become a global hub for autonomous vehicle development and Physical AI innovation, driving forward the country’s leadership in emerging technologies.
