Kyocera TW Series Thread Whirling Tools Enhance Precision and Efficiency in Small-Part Manufacturing!
Kyocera SGS Precision Tools has introduced its TW Series thread whirling tools, engineered to deliver high-efficiency thread production for precision small-part machining. Designed specifically for Swiss-type lathes, the system enables manufacturers to achieve consistent, high-quality threads across a wide range of demanding applications.
The TW Series is particularly well-suited for producing critical components such as medical bone screws, where precision, surface finish, and process stability are essential. It is compatible with leading Swiss-type machine platforms, including Citizen Machinery, Star Micronics, and Tsugami Corporation, ensuring seamless integration into existing production environments.
To address varying production requirements, the TW Series is available in two insert configurations. The L-Series features a nine-flute cutter design with two-edge inserts, optimised for high-efficiency machining in double-start thread operations. Meanwhile, the T-Series offers a cost-effective solution with a six-flute design and three-edge inserts, ideal for single-start thread applications. This flexibility allows manufacturers to balance productivity and tooling costs without compromising thread quality.
The tooling system supports a wide range of thread geometries, including helix angles up to 30 degrees, pitches up to 6 mm, and multistart thread configurations. It is capable of producing precision threads on components up to 10 mm in diameter, making it highly suitable for industries such as medical and aerospace, where tight tolerances and reliability are critical.
In addition to versatility, the TW Series incorporates durable coating technology and a stable insert design, contributing to extended tool life and consistent performance. These features are particularly beneficial when machining difficult materials commonly used in high-performance applications, including medical implants and aerospace fasteners.
Overall, the TW Series reflects Kyocera’s focus on delivering advanced tooling solutions that combine precision, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. By enabling reliable thread production in small, complex components, the system supports manufacturers in meeting the increasingly stringent demands of modern high-precision industries.
