The India-Sweden Innovations’ Accelerator (ISIA) programme, now in its 13th year, continues to drive impactful collaborations between India and Sweden, accelerating the adoption of clean technologies and sustainable solutions. Over the years, the ISIA has introduced over 70 Swedish cleantech companies to the Indian market, contributing to more than 280 projects and establishing seven local subsidiaries in India, supporting the country’s Make in India and Clean India initiatives.
In celebration of its 13th year, the ISIA programme is hosting a series of events from April 7-15, 2025, with eleven innovative Swedish companies participating in India. The programme kicked off with a one-day workshop held on April 9, 2025, in Chennai, focusing on innovative clean technologies. The workshop brought together several Indian industry stakeholders and featured B2B meetings with the Swedish delegation. The companies showcased cutting-edge solutions in clean energy, water conservation, and energy efficiency.
The workshop opened with a keynote address from S N Eisenhower, Past Chairman of CII Tamil Nadu, who emphasized the role of renewable energy and technology in reducing emissions and combating climate change. The event also underscored the collaborative efforts of Swedish Energy Agency, Business Sweden, and CII in establishing the India-Sweden Innovations’ Accelerator, a platform designed to facilitate technology transfer and enhance sustainability in both countries.
Arun Vasu, Honorary Consul of Sweden in India, spoke about the growing partnership, noting that over 280 Swedish companies now operate in India, with around 70 of them based in Tamil Nadu. He highlighted that the ISIA workshop has been key in introducing innovative solutions to India and continues to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in renewable energy and green technologies.
Sara Persson, Senior Business Developer at the Swedish Energy Agency, reiterated that the core mission of the ISIA programme is to foster the exchange of innovative clean technologies from Sweden to India, enhancing sustainability and climate resilience. Pawan Tahlani, Market Manager at Business Sweden, emphasized the priority areas of sustainability and climate change, highlighting the importance of India and Sweden’s MoUs in the fields of energy and environment to advance research, technology, and development cooperation.
The workshop also celebrated a significant milestone, with Xinix Global AB signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WIST Water Solutions (Drinkwell). This partnership will focus on flood management efforts in eastern India, further solidifying the ISIA programme’s success in facilitating collaborations that have a lasting impact on the environment.
As the ISIA programme celebrates over a decade of success, it continues to serve as a pivotal platform for promoting sustainable technologies and collaborations between India and Sweden, reinforcing their shared commitment to a cleaner, greener future for all.
