India is set to take a significant step toward global leadership in the green hydrogen sector, as showcased by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi during the curtain-raiser event for the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2024). Scheduled to be held from September 11-13, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the event is expected to attract over 6,000 delegates from around the world.
Minister Joshi highlighted the country’s ambition to become a global hub for green hydrogen production, a goal that is strongly supported by the National Green Hydrogen Mission. India’s green hydrogen initiative aims to position the country as a key player in the global energy transition, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and leading the way in sustainable energy solutions.
ICGH 2024 will serve as a platform to showcase the latest advancements in green hydrogen technology, financing strategies for large-scale projects, and initiatives to upskill human resources in this emerging sector. In addition to technical sessions, the conference will also feature innovative engagements such as a hackathon and poster competitions, aimed at fostering youth participation and driving innovation in the hydrogen space.
A key highlight of the event will be a CEOs’ roundtable and a special session titled “Green Hydrogen for Youth,” underscoring India’s commitment to advancing clean energy technologies and engaging the next generation of energy innovators.
Significant strides have already been made, including the awarding of a 3,000 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity and tenders for large-scale green hydrogen production. These efforts reflect India’s determination to scale up green hydrogen projects and accelerate the shift toward a sustainable energy future.
The conference will bring together global stakeholders to discuss strategies for expanding the green hydrogen ecosystem and solidifying India’s leadership in the global clean energy transition.
