Frankfurt am Main, Germany – The ‘Grinder of the Year’ competition beckons, inviting young talents to showcase their theoretical prowess and practical grinding finesse. The coveted title of ‘Grinder of the Year 2024’ is up for grabs, alongside training vouchers worth up to €3,500 and a host of other enticing rewards. Dr. Markus Heering, Managing Director of GrindingHub organizer VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), underscores the competition’s dual objectives: to reinforce GrindingHub’s position as the epicenter of grinding technology and to champion the sector’s efforts in nurturing young talent to combat the skilled labor shortage. The KSKomm agency from Ransbach-Baumbach takes charge of orchestrating this thrilling contest. The preliminary round kicks off with a rigorous theory test followed by two days of intensive training on the competition machine, the FX5 ULTRA 5-axis tool grinding machine, hosted at Anca’s facilities in Weinheim, Germany. The top five contenders will then dazzle audiences with live demonstrations of their practical prowess by grinding a workpiece or tool during the GrindingHub event from May 14-17, 2024, in Stuttgart.

Open to young talents hailing from German, Austrian, and Swiss companies utilizing grinding technology in their production processes. Occupations encompass cutting machine operators, precision mechanics, precision tool mechanics, metal (cutting) technology specialists, specialist metal technology trainees, specialist cutting mechanics trainees, machine and plant operators, punching and forming mechanics, polymechanics, production mechanics, and tool mechanics.
