Farmson Basic Drugs, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in India, has joined forces with Schneider Electric to implement a comprehensive environmental and sustainability strategy. Launched in February 2025, the collaboration is designed to integrate sustainable practices across Farmson’s operations, supported by Schneider Electric’s expertise in sustainability consulting and its cutting-edge digital tools.
The partnership is centered on three primary objectives that aim to accelerate Farmson’s journey towards a more sustainable and low-carbon future. First, Farmson will develop a detailed inventory of its greenhouse gas emissions, covering Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and establish science-based targets aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This will also include preparations for CDP climate disclosures and the creation of a long-term roadmap to improve the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance.
The second objective is the adoption of Schneider Electric’s “Resource Advisor” platform, which will allow Farmson to track and manage critical environmental metrics such as energy use, emissions, and water consumption. This platform will provide the company with the necessary data to monitor and report on its sustainability performance effectively, making it easier to implement necessary improvements across its operations.
The third aspect of the partnership involves Schneider Electric conducting comprehensive energy and water assessments across Farmson’s three manufacturing sites. These assessments will identify opportunities to reduce emissions, enhance the use of renewable energy, and improve overall efficiency. The focus will be on delivering measurable outcomes, with clear benchmarks for investment and return on investment (ROI) as part of the company’s decarbonization efforts.
Deepak Sharma, Zone President – Greater India and CEO of Schneider Electric India, emphasized that the goal of this collaboration is to help companies like Farmson move from sustainability intent to tangible action. Vinit Menon, CEO of Farmson, added that the project aligns with the company’s long-term goals by not only improving environmental performance but also benefiting business operations through increased efficiency and sustainability.
This joint effort reflects the growing commitment to sustainability in the pharmaceutical sector, with the partnership expected to be completed by October 2025. The collaboration leverages Schneider Electric’s global expertise in electrification, automation, and digitalization to create smart, sustainable solutions across industries.
As a leader in industrial technology, Schneider Electric specializes in electrification, automation, and digital transformation, creating resilient infrastructure, future-ready data centers, intelligent buildings, and more. The company’s AI-powered Industrial IoT solutions, connected products, automation systems, and software deliver digital twins that help customers achieve profitable, sustainable growth. Through this partnership, Farmson and Schneider Electric are poised to set a new standard for sustainability in India’s pharmaceutical industry while contributing to the global fight against climate change.
