FANUC America, a global leader in industrial automation, is set to showcase the latest in its ROBODRILL vertical machining center (VMC) lineup—the new ROBODRILL α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500—at the 2024 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, Sept. 9-14. The new model offers machine shops enhanced productivity with a larger table, increased tool capacity, faster cycle times, and improved efficiency, all while maintaining the same compact footprint.
The ROBODRILL α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 is engineered for peak performance, featuring a 500 mm extended Y-axis stroke and an expanded table size ideal for machining large workpieces without taking up additional floorspace. With rapid Z-axis acceleration of 2.2 G and a traverse rate of 60m/min, this VMC speeds up drilling and tapping operations, reducing cycle times and boosting overall productivity. Its 28-tool capacity and fast tool changes further enhance the machine’s efficiency.
“The α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 is tailored to meet the needs of modern machine shops, especially in the automotive sector, where maximizing uptime and minimizing production interruptions are crucial,” said Lou Finazzo, Vice President of FANUC America. “We’ve designed this model to offer more capabilities without sacrificing floorspace, allowing customers to optimize production.”
FANUC’s ROBODRILL Plus lineup is renowned for its reliability, precision, and versatility. The α-D28LiB5ADV Plus Y500 builds on FANUC’s legacy of over 50 years of VMC expertise, providing industry-leading uptime and robust performance. With easy robotic integration options and automated machine tending capabilities, this model is ideal for modern production environments that prioritize automation.
The ROBODRILL Plus series offers three model sizes, each available in Standard or Advanced versions, ensuring flexibility for a wide range of applications. With nearly 500,000 ROBODRILLs operating globally, FANUC is known for delivering performance-driven solutions backed by 24/7 local support, ensuring machine shops run continuously without downtime.
