EuroBLECH 2024: A Showcase of Innovation and Resilience in Sheet Metal Working

The 27th International Sheet Metal Working Technology Exhibition, EuroBLECH 2024, held at the end of October in Hanover, reaffirmed its status as the world’s leading platform for innovation and business in the sheet metal working industry. With 38,946 trade visitors from 114 countries and 1,317 exhibitors covering 160,000m² of gross exhibition space, the event stood as a testament to the sector’s ongoing commitment to progress and transformation.

Despite global economic challenges, the event exuded cautious optimism. Many exhibitors reported securing significant orders, reflecting the industry’s belief in eventual recovery and growth. A strong focus on new opportunities and technological advancements was evident, with buyers displaying an openness to investing in new solutions.

Key Insights and Growth Markets

Visitor quality was notably high, with the majority identified as key decision-makers. A 3% increase in unique visitors was recorded, with a particularly strong turnout from Germany, followed by countries like the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Sweden, and Turkey. Notably, there was an uptick in attendees from Asia (Japan, Taiwan, India) and South America (notably Argentina), indicating emerging markets for sheet metal technology.

Groundbreaking Innovations

EuroBLECH 2024 showcased an impressive array of innovations across 15 technology areas, highlighting the sector’s drive to enhance production efficiency. Key technologies on display included AI-driven vision systems for automated sorting of laser-cut parts, remote diagnostics for machines, highly automated factory systems integrating people, machines, and data, and next-generation laser-cutting machines. Other notable innovations included modular bending cells for smaller production environments and high-speed fibre laser cutting machines for demanding applications.

EuroBLECH 2024 Awards

Among the many technological advancements, 76 companies were shortlisted for the prestigious EuroBLECH 2024 Award, with six winners chosen through public voting. Categories and winners included:

  • Stamping and Forming: Amada for its EGB-1303ARse bending robot cell
  • Cutting Technology: Trumpf for its bevel cutting on 2-D laser cutting machines
  • Joining Technology: Weil Technology for its LWC-RT4-BPP laser welding system
  • Surface Technology: Q-Fin for its F250 small parts finishing machine
  • Automation and Handling: Reis Robotics for its ROBOTstar VII robot controller
  • Sustainability: Bosch Rexroth for its energy-efficient servo-hydraulic drive for deep-drawing presses

Additionally, live talks, panel discussions, and guided tours allowed attendees to explore key topics such as automation, digitalization, and solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.

Supporting Young Talent and New Innovations

EuroBLECH 2024 also demonstrated its commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of industry leaders. Around one in five exhibitors were new to the show, and the ‘Young Innovators’ pavilion in Hall 15 showcased promising start-ups from Germany. On Careers Day, students and apprentices gained unique access to groundbreaking technologies and industry experts.

Looking ahead, many exhibitors have already confirmed their participation for EuroBLECH 2026, set to take place from 20-23 October 2026 in Hanover.
