Embraco Expands Manufacturing Footprint in India with New Compressor Facility in Maharashtra!

Embraco, a global leader in refrigeration solutions and a part of Nidec Global Appliance (GA), is set to begin manufacturing compressors in India with the establishment of a new production facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra. This strategic decision is driven by the increasing demand for energy-efficient refrigeration products across India’s growing domestic and commercial sectors. The new facility will help Embraco better serve this demand and enhance its presence in the region.

The new plant, spanning 55,000 square meters, is expected to have an annual production capacity of 6 million units. Scheduled to begin operations in the latter half of 2026, the facility will manufacture a wide variety of compressors and electronic components used in residential and commercial refrigeration systems. With an investment of over $120 million, the project is expected to create between 750 and 1,000 jobs, contributing to local industrial growth and providing skill development opportunities for the region.

Alberto Casnati, President of Nidec Global Appliance, highlighted the significance of the investment, noting, “This investment is a significant step in expanding our global footprint and responding to India’s fast-growing refrigeration market. The support from both the Maharashtra state and central governments has played a pivotal role in enabling this project.” The new facility will not only address domestic needs but also strengthen Embraco’s position in the global refrigeration market.

The plant will focus on producing four high-performance Embraco compressor models known for their compact design and energy-efficient operation. Among these are the ES and EL fixed-speed compressors, which offer low-noise, reliable performance and are compatible with eco-friendly natural refrigerants. The ES model is designed to serve both residential and light commercial refrigeration needs, providing versatility while being environmentally conscious.

Additionally, the facility will produce FMS and VLT variable-speed compressors. These inverter-driven models, tailored for both residential and commercial refrigeration, offer superior energy efficiency, precise temperature control, and quieter operation. Despite their small size, these compressors deliver the same cooling power as larger systems, providing appliance manufacturers with greater design flexibility without sacrificing performance.

Alongside compressor production, the facility will manufacture inverter electronics that regulate compressor speeds based on cooling demands, further enhancing energy efficiency. The ES and FMS models will form a core offering from the Indian facility and are part of Embraco’s high-volume, globally recognized product lines.

With this new manufacturing hub, Embraco is not only positioning itself to meet rising domestic demand but also setting the stage for regional exports. The company aims to strengthen local supply chains and reinforce its leadership in the refrigeration sector, expanding its reach across Asia and beyond. This investment aligns with Embraco’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability in the refrigeration industry.
