Collins Aerospace Opens Advanced Engineering Development and Test Center in Bengaluru, Reinforcing India’s Role in Aerospace Innovation!

Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, has unveiled a state-of-the-art Engineering Development and Test Center (EDTC) in Bengaluru, India. This facility, with a $25 million investment, is set to accelerate product development and testing for the aerospace industry. The 50,000-square-foot center is equipped with advanced testing equipment that simulates harsh operating conditions, such as extreme temperatures, high altitudes, vibration, and electromagnetic interference. This enables Collins Aerospace to conduct early-stage evaluations, address potential issues, and enhance product designs, ultimately saving time and costs in the development process.

Initially, the EDTC will support Collins Aerospace’s avionics, advanced structures, interiors, and power and controls businesses, with future plans to expand its capabilities to accommodate all RTX businesses across various aerospace and defense applications. This move is aligned with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, emphasizing the country’s strategic importance in the global aerospace supply chain.

Savyasachi Srinivas, Vice President of Global Engineering & Technology Centers at Collins Aerospace, remarked that the facility brings advanced testing capabilities closer to where engineering and manufacturing take place in India. The EDTC marks a major milestone for Collins Aerospace and is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in the aerospace sector.

Over the past two decades, Collins Aerospace has expanded its presence in India, employing over 6,000 people across various functions such as engineering, digital, manufacturing, and operations. The opening of the EDTC further strengthens India’s role as a global hub for aerospace innovation and underscores Collins Aerospace’s long-term dedication to the region.
