As a leader in high-quality development, Beijing E-Town (BDA) has announced an ambitious plan to establish a world-class demonstration city for the embodied intelligent robot industry. In a two-step approach, the initiative aims to position Beijing E-Town as a global hub for robotics innovation, production, and applications by 2030.
By the end of 2026, the city aims to achieve full integration of over 10 interactive service application scenarios, attract more than 100 innovative enterprises, gather over 1,000 high-end talents, and develop a production capacity of 10,000 embodied intelligent robots annually. By 2030, Beijing E-Town plans to create an innovation ecosystem characterized by a “full-chain layout, full-stack autonomy, and comprehensive empowerment,” transforming it into a strategic base for embodied intelligent robots in China.
The development strategy, presented by Kong Lei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee, at the 2024 World Robot Conference (WRC), focuses on advancing key technologies for robotics, such as the robot “brain,” “cerebellum,” and “limbs.” This includes breakthroughs in AI-based general-purpose models, motion control algorithms, and high-precision sensors. The plan also seeks to accelerate the development of critical components like high-performance chips, servo motors, and lightweight skeletons.
In addition to technological advancement, Beijing E-Town will prioritize the creation of a vibrant innovation ecosystem, supporting enterprises in developing cutting-edge robots for sectors like electronics manufacturing, new energy vehicles, elderly care, education, and emergency response.
A highlight of Beijing E-Town’s recent achievements includes the successful launch of the world’s first humanoid robot platform, Tiangong, showcasing its commitment to leading the robotics industry.
Moving forward, Beijing E-Town will continue to foster collaboration between enterprises, government, and research institutions, aiming to build a globally competitive robot industry ecosystem. By leveraging its robust manufacturing base and diverse industrial applications, Beijing E-Town is set to become a global center for robotics innovation and application, providing comprehensive support for the development of embodied intelligent robots across various sectors.
