Autodesk Launches India-Specific BIM Tools to Support the Nation’s Infrastructure Growth!

In a move to bolster India’s rapidly expanding infrastructure sector, Autodesk has unveiled a specialized suite of digital design tools tailored for public sector infrastructure projects. This new offering, named the BIM Package for Viksit Bharat, is crafted specifically for Indian engineers, architects, and decision-makers involved in the planning and execution of large-scale national projects.

The suite was officially launched at the Autodesk Viksit Bharat Summit held in New Delhi, with key figures such as Ashish Kumar Mittal, Director of Public Sector, and Alok Sharma, Director of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) at Autodesk India & SAARC, in attendance. The introduction of this package aligns with Autodesk’s ongoing commitment to developing region-specific solutions that meet the unique needs of the Indian market, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.

The BIM Package for Viksit Bharat includes tailored toolsets for Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Civil 3D, both of which have been adapted to comply with Indian standards and regulations. Autodesk Revit now comes preloaded with templates and components based on Indian standards, specifically aligned with the Delhi Schedule of Rates (DSR). This feature simplifies the design and coordination process for building projects, allowing professionals to work more efficiently and effectively across various disciplines.

Similarly, Autodesk Civil 3D has been configured to adhere to guidelines provided by key Indian institutions such as the Indian Roads Congress (IRC), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), and Indian Railways. This customization ensures that transport infrastructure projects can be planned with greater accuracy, reducing the need for manual interventions and improving overall project coordination. The result is accelerated project timelines and more streamlined workflows.

Alok Sharma, Director of AEC at Autodesk India & SAARC, explained that while Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been pivotal in global infrastructure delivery, its adoption in India has been hindered by a lack of tools that are specifically tailored to local needs. The introduction of these solutions aims to fill that gap, empowering professionals to use BIM more effectively by aligning software features with Indian codes and workflows.

Autodesk’s focus on localized tools comes at a crucial time for India, which is witnessing significant investments in urban development, transportation networks, and industrial corridors. As the nation ramps up its infrastructure projects, the role of BIM will be vital in maintaining high-quality standards, controlling costs, and ensuring operational transparency across large-scale initiatives.

The launch of these BIM tools also supports the growing trend of digital transformation within India’s construction sector. Autodesk’s 2025 State of Design & Make report highlights that more than half of Indian organizations are already applying artificial intelligence (AI) to drive sustainability in their projects—significantly ahead of global averages. Autodesk’s new BIM solutions are positioned to further enhance this trend, enabling professionals to execute projects faster, more efficiently, and with a focus on sustainability, all while staying aligned with national development priorities.

Globally, Autodesk provides a broad range of digital platforms designed to support professionals across various sectors—from buildings and infrastructure to manufacturing and media. The company’s technology allows users to plan, design, and create with greater accuracy and impact, unlocking data-driven insights and automation to improve productivity and reduce inefficiencies.

Autodesk’s innovative tools are helping businesses deliver better outcomes, ensuring that infrastructure projects, such as those in India, not only meet the country’s current demands but are also future-ready. As India’s infrastructure sector continues to grow, Autodesk’s specialized BIM solutions will play a critical role in driving the country’s ambitious development goals.
