The process achieves nanometer surface finishes directly from the machine, underscoring the precision achievable through milling and oscillation jig grinding techniques.
The top of the cemented carbide insert was expertly shaped using a carbide diamond-coated end mill from Union Tool Co. Meanwhile, the sides were jig ground using an electro-plated, nickel-bonded tool that utilises diamond abrasives. This process, which results in a mirror finish, is further enhanced by MB50 from Castrol Industrial Solutions.
