Filtermist Ltd, one of the UK’s leading air filtration experts, has announced the launch of an innovative new dust and fume extraction range from its sister company, Absolent AB. The newly introduced AD series features cutting-edge True Downflow technology, delivering a compact, modular solution that offers optimised filtration density and significantly reduced maintenance requirements.
Developed over three years using real-world insights from hundreds of customer applications, the AD range is designed specifically for UK manufacturers involved in abrasive metalworking processes such as welding, laser cutting, grinding, and plasma cutting.
Robert Wiktorén, Chief Product Officer at Absolent Air Care Group, explained:
“Traditional dust collectors have long struggled with issues around noise, footprint, and filter accessibility. Our new AD range addresses these challenges with a complete rethink. True Downflow combines vertical filter alignment with top-to-bottom airflow, using gravity to our advantage and improving filter cleaning efficiency — all within a smaller, quieter, and more user-friendly system.”
The first phase of the AD launch includes three models:
Airflows range from 1,200 to 10,800 m³/hr, with the flexibility to scale up due to the system’s modular construction.
The CleanChange mechanism is another standout feature. As Andy Darby, Absolent Air Care Group’s Senior Product Manager, noted:
“We’ve removed the need for tools and exposure to dust. Filter elements are connected, so when the first is pulled out, the next is automatically positioned. It’s quick, clean, and safe — a game-changer for maintenance teams.”
In addition to space-saving design and quieter operation — achieved by integrating the fan and cleaning system inside the main unit — the AD range is constructed from pre-treated Galfan steel, offering robust corrosion resistance. Optional acoustic damping measures are available for further noise reduction.
Future models will expand the range to support:
The new AD technology is being rolled out in stages across Europe and the UK, promising enhanced performance, safety, and versatility for end-users, OEMs, and integrators alike.
Robert Wiktorén concluded:
“We believe the AD range will redefine how industries approach dust and fume extraction. It’s a high-performance, future-ready solution designed with the user at its core.”
