ETG Expands Expertise With Fabrication Appointment

Businesses from OEMs down to small subcontract manufacturers are continually demanding ‘one-stop’ solution integrators for the ever increasingly complex manufacturing challenges faced by industry. The Engineering Technology Group (ETG) has long been at the forefront of innovation with its high-end multi-axis machining solutions, but now the Wellesbourne company has employed Andrew Smith Hughes to be the Product Manager for its new ‘Fabrication Division’.

The new division will incorporate a wide range of products and bespoke services with the VLB Group to be presented as the first brand under the umbrella of the ETG Fabrication Division. Heading up the new ETG ‘Fabrication Division’, Andrew Smith Hughes started his career in the military, studying mechanical and electrical engineering in the Royal Navy. Upon leaving the Navy, Andrew spent a decade as a service and then sales engineer for a leading tube bending machine tool manufacturer. Subsequently, Andrew evolved his career with roles as a key account manager and then director, responsible for the growth of a number of prestigious businesses in the sheetmetal, tube manufacturing and fabrication sector. This exceptional level of expertise will now be married to the growth ambitions and innovation of ETG.

As the new Product Manager for Fabrication at ETG, Andrew Smith Hughes will spearhead the integration of the new division into the ETG business structure and deliver the solutions to the industry. Commenting upon joining ETG, Andrew says: The ethos of ETG to deliver turnkey projects is a business model that has been overlooked in the fabrication market until now. This huge market gap provides a major opportunity for ETG to service the fabrication industry to levels never before seen – this makes the new ETG enterprise a remarkably exciting opportunity for the industry.”

Experts in tube bending and cold roll forming, the VLB Group will be present at the Southern Manufacturing show in Farnborough as well as at MACH 2024 from the 15th to 19th of April at the Birmingham NEC. Andrew will be at both events to present the new ETG business division and discuss the latest VLB Group product lines and solutions available to UK manufacturers. If you want to learn more about how ETG can support your sheet, tube and fabrication requirements, please visit Andrew at one of the forthcoming exhibitions or contact ETG for further details.
