This facility is about to change the UK supply chain for decades to come.
By Lyndsey Vickers
Next time you see a jet engine, the components inside could have started right here at Wall Colmonoy’s facility in the Swansea Valley.
Their brand new VPIC (Vacuum Precision Investment Casting) facility melts nickel-based superalloys in a vacuum – no oxygen, no bubbles, just ultra-pure, high-strength components for the aerospace industry.
It’s a £2.5 million investment that safeguards 200 local jobs, creates new high-tech roles, and establishes a domestic resource for UK aerospace that simply didn’t exist before. Tom Skubala and Lyndsey Vickers of MTDCNC made it to the official launch to see it all firsthand.
