The 30th edition of the Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) officially began today, marking a milestone for the event, which has become a global benchmark for the machine tool and smart manufacturing industries. Co-organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), TIMTOS 2025 is being held from March 3 to 8 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 and 2, as well as Taipei World Trade Centre Hall 1. The show has attracted over 1,000 exhibitors and spans 6,100 booths, drawing a strong global presence from industry leaders.
Emphasizing Innovation and Sustainability
Under the theme “Integrate to Innovate,” this year’s TIMTOS highlights three major focal points: AI and robotics, smart manufacturing, and green sustainability. The event aims to explore the vast business opportunities in five key sectors: semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), medical, aerospace, and renewable energy. As Taiwan continues to drive forward with innovations in these areas, TIMTOS serves as the prime platform for exhibitors and visitors alike to explore the latest in machine tool technologies.
Global Participation and International Exposure
To attract a broader international audience, TAITRA utilized its 62 overseas offices, inviting global buyers and successfully securing over 3,000 pre-registrations from visitors in 87 countries. Delegations have already arrived from countries including Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and India. Some of the top international exhibitors at the event include Italy’s F.O.M. INDUSTRIE SRL (leaders in aluminum extrusion and processing), Germany’s EMUGE-Werk Richard Glimpel GmbH & Co. KG (a century-old precision tool manufacturer), and Canada’s Thomas Skinner & Son Ltd.
By the end of the week, the event is expected to welcome over 50,000 visitors, both domestic and international, solidifying TIMTOS’s standing as one of the most prominent trade shows in the industry.
Exhibitors and Innovations
Manufacturers from both Taiwan and abroad are showcasing their innovations at TIMTOS 2025. Notable Taiwanese exhibitors include Fair Friend Group, Tongtai, Victor Taichung, Hiwin, YCM, Chmer, You Ji, Siemens, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Mazak, and Mitsubishi. New international exhibitors such as Germany’s Liebherr, a leader in gear machining, and Italy’s Mecolpress, a specialist in forging machines, will also be featured. Additionally, national pavilions from Switzerland, Germany, and the USA further highlight TIMTOS’s status as an important global technology platform.
Keynote Address and Industry Insights
The opening ceremony included distinguished guests such as Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te, Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Jyh-huei, and several international representatives, including AIT Director Raymond Greene and German Institute Taipei Director Jörg Polster.
In his keynote, James Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, emphasized the role of AI and smart manufacturing in accelerating Taiwan’s machinery industry’s transformation. He noted that Taiwan’s technological strength positions it as a key player in the global manufacturing landscape. Huang also discussed the importance of nurturing AI talent to drive the next industrial revolution and the critical role of Taiwan in this era of technological change.
Resilience and Innovation in Taiwan’s Manufacturing Sector
David Chuang, Chairman of TAMI, acknowledged the resilience of Taiwan’s machine tool sector in the face of economic uncertainties in 2024. He highlighted that Taiwan’s leadership in adopting AI technologies and transitioning toward net-zero emissions is changing the competitive landscape, with value now driving the industry rather than price.
Celebrating 30 Years of TIMTOS
To commemorate its 30th anniversary, TIMTOS 2025 offers a full lineup of special events, including the TIMTOS Keynote and Forum, “ESG Action!” sustainability activities, and “Dr Net Zero” corporate carbon check-ups. Additional events include a green product competition, themed guided tours, and a Taipei 101 light show. The Intellectual Property Office also showcases the Taiwan Patent GO Pavilion, featuring five award-winning patents and offering free patent consultation services.
Looking Forward
With an action-packed schedule, TIMTOS 2025 is set to be a transformative event for the machine tool and smart manufacturing industries. The event reinforces Taiwan’s position as a global leader in technological innovation and sustainability. It also highlights the growing importance of AI and robotics in shaping the future of manufacturing across multiple industries.
As the show continues, it is expected to foster significant business opportunities and collaborations, paving the way for further advancements in the global manufacturing sector.
