Datum Tool Design Strengthens Manufacturing Capability with Major £6 Million Investment and Installation of 22-Metre PROMAC Machine

Northern Ireland-based Datum Tool Design has taken another major step forward in its manufacturing journey with the installation of a new PROMAC SHARAV HGVT 22-metre machine, marking the centrepiece of a wider £6 million investment into the company’s future manufacturing capability.
The investment includes a brand-new facility purpose-built to house the machine and support the production of large-scale, high-value components for customers operating in demanding industries.
Installed in partnership with PROMAC CNC Machine Tools, the SHARAV HGVT represents a significant expansion in Datum Tool Design’s machining capacity and reinforces the company’s commitment to continued growth, precision engineering excellence, and long-term customer support.
Speaking during the installation process, the teams discussed the unique challenges involved in implementing a machine of this scale, from logistics and facility preparation through to operator confidence and long-term process reliability.
For Datum Tool Design, the decision to partner with PROMAC again was heavily influenced by previous experience with the company’s after-sales support and technical service.
“When you are machining components of this magnitude, reliability and support become absolutely critical,” the company explained during filming. “The experience with the first machine gave complete confidence moving forward with the second, even at this scale.”
