MOKE International, the iconic British automotive brand, has officially opened a new production facility in Leamington Spa, marking a major milestone in its 60th anniversary year. The state-of-the-art site will serve as the manufacturing hub for the Electric MOKE, supporting the company’s growing international demand, especially in key markets including the USA, France, Italy, and the Mediterranean.
The new facility represents a strategic shift for MOKE, reaffirming its commitment to British engineering and low-carbon innovation. With annual production targets set to exceed 500 units, MOKE is also significantly boosting its contribution to the UK economy as a net exporter of electric vehicles.
At an exclusive event to celebrate the opening, MOKE welcomed retail partners from Europe, the Middle East, and North America, alongside Matt Western, Labour MP for Warwick and Leamington and chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on electric vehicles. Guests were treated to the unveiling of new colourways and customisation options for the Electric MOKE, underscoring the company’s focus on sustainability, style, and craftsmanship.
Nick English, Executive Chairman of MOKE International, said:
“Bringing production back to the UK – and to the Midlands, where MOKE was originally created – is a proud moment for our brand. This new facility is not only a celebration of our heritage, but also a bold step into the future of British clean-tech manufacturing.”
The expansion has tripled MOKE’s workforce and created dozens of new skilled roles, with a focus on training the next generation of engineers through apprenticeship and graduate schemes.
Matt Western MP commented:
“It’s fantastic to see MOKE investing in our region and leading in the EV sector. Their commitment to local suppliers and job creation is exactly what our automotive future should look like.”
MOKE’s Electric MOKE has already achieved M1 Small Series Approval, EPA Certification, and CARB approval, making it the first electric vehicle from a low-volume manufacturer to be cleared for sale in all 50 US states. With around 70% of its components sourced from Europe, MOKE joins a select group of truly sustainable, independently owned automotive manufacturers.
Further elevating its brand, MOKE International has also been invited to join Walpole, the UK’s luxury goods sector body, in recognition of its excellence in design, craftsmanship, and innovation.
