T&G Engineering Accelerates Lead Times with Third Automated Matsuura MX-330 Investment
By Rowan Easter-Robinson
T&G Engineering has strengthened its advanced manufacturing capabilities with the installation of a third fully automated 5-axis machining centre from Matsuura Machinery Ltd, helping the company dramatically reduce lead times and increase production efficiency.

Based in West Byfleet, T&G Engineering has built its reputation on combining complex machining expertise, decades of engineering knowledge, and exceptional customer service to deliver high-precision components to customers around the world.
The latest addition to the company’s machine shop, a Matsuura MX-330, has seamlessly integrated into the business’s demanding production environment. Despite being installed for only two months, the machine is already delivering significant results, including reducing the lead time of a key component from three weeks to just seven days.

For T&G Engineering, the investment is about more than simply increasing capacity. It is about creating a more agile manufacturing operation capable of responding quickly to customer demands while maintaining the highest standards of quality and precision.
One of the key success stories behind the machine’s rapid implementation is programmer Nikola Uchkunov. Having previously had limited experience with both 5-axis machining and automation, Nikola was able to become fully productive on the MX-330 after just three days of training.
The ease of adoption highlights both the accessibility of the technology and the commitment of T&G Engineering’s team to continually develop their skills and embrace advanced manufacturing methods.

Managing Director Tony Smyth sees the investment as another important step in the company’s growth strategy. With customer demand continuing to increase and the business exporting components across global markets, he remains confident about the future direction of the company.
Speaking about the latest machine investment, Tony challenged customers to keep bringing work through the door, joking that the only outcome may be having to invest in another Matsuura machine sooner than expected.
The MX-330 now joins two other automated Matsuura machines within the facility, reinforcing T&G Engineering’s commitment to automation, productivity and maintaining a competitive edge in modern manufacturing.
As manufacturers continue to face pressure to reduce lead times while increasing output, T&G Engineering’s latest success demonstrates how the right combination of technology, skilled people and forward-thinking investment can deliver measurable results from day one.
