Shaping the Future of Paper: How ANDRITZ Streamlined Production in Sweden

Got more than three sheets of paper on your desk?
Chances are, at least one of them has been cut by an ANDRITZ knife.

With equipment in over one-third of the world’s pulp and paper mills, ANDRITZ plays a vital role in keeping the global paper industry running. At their cutting-edge facility in Iggesund, Sweden, we saw firsthand how they’re pushing innovation forward — by consolidating their machining operations around a single game-changing solution.

To meet rising demand and simplify production, ANDRITZ has replaced three separate machines with just one: the THC 16 Extreme universal milling machine from IBARMIA.

This high-performance machining center is built to tackle the hard tool steels required for paper and sawmill equipment, and it’s now capable of producing every millable part in the ANDRITZ catalogue. The result? Greater flexibility, faster response to customer demand, and a more streamlined manufacturing process.

But this story isn’t just about one machine — it’s about the company behind it.

IBARMIA, based in Spain, has built a global reputation for precision, innovation, and reliability in advanced milling solutions. Known for their robust 5-axis and multi-tasking machines, IBARMIA is seeing major success across international markets, from Europe to Asia and the Americas. Their flexible production systems are helping manufacturers in a wide range of sectors adapt quickly to changing demands and complex part requirements — just like ANDRITZ has done in Sweden.

We had the pleasure of visiting the site, meeting the team, and capturing the story on film.

🎥 Videos coming to MTDCNC very soon — stay tuned for an exclusive look inside the ANDRITZ facility, interviews with key people, and a closer look at the incredible technology making it all possible.

A big thank you to everyone at ANDRITZ in Iggesund for the warm welcome and open doors — we can’t wait to share what we’ve seen!
