Revolutionizing Bar Feeding: Edge Technologies Unveils FMB Turbo 3-38 RS for CNC Lathes

Edge Technologies has introduced the FMB Turbo 3-38 RS, a groundbreaking bar feeder designed for sliding-headstock CNC lathes. This innovation features the company’s Revolutionary Sliding (RS) technology, marking a significant leap in the industry by fully supporting the bar pusher and stock from inside the bar feeder directly into the lathe spindle.

The FMB Turbo 3-38 RS is particularly well-suited for Swiss lathes with extended Z-axis strokes, making it ideal for demanding applications like non-guide bushing mode and working with challenging materials and profiled stock. The integrated sliding guide module and moving steady rest, both lubricated, deliver superior support for the bar pusher and stock during the transition from the bar feeder to the lathe spindle.

Notably, FMB’s RS technology eliminates the need for telescopic noses, extended pushers, and Z-axis axial tracks – accessories traditionally used to minimize the gap between the bar feeder and lathe. This innovative design not only reduces vibration but also enhances maximum rpm, providing manufacturers with a solution that ensures faster cycle times, improved surface finishes, and tighter tolerances.

Kevin Meehan, President of Edge Technologies, emphasized, “The patented sliding guide module represents a significant advancement in providing superior bar stability and RPM performance.” The FMB Turbo 3-38 RS boasts a rigid extruded base, combining advanced performance characteristics to meet the evolving needs of manufacturers in the CNC machining realm.
