Andrew Smith brings more than two decades of international leadership experience across engineering, operations, manufacturing, and business management. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions with some of the world’s leading engineering and industrial organisations, including Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Bombardier Transportation. During his tenure with these companies, he managed complex engineering programmes, led large multidisciplinary teams, and developed customer-focused operational strategies across highly regulated industries such as aerospace, transportation, and advanced manufacturing.
Since joining Cyient nearly ten years ago, Smith has played an important role in driving strategic growth across several of the company’s key business segments. He has successfully led initiatives within the Transportation and Semiconductor businesses, contributing to business expansion, improved operational performance, stronger customer engagement, and the development of advanced engineering capabilities. His deep understanding of Cyient’s business, combined with extensive global industry experience, positions him well to lead the company’s operational transformation.
In addition to assuming the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer, Smith will continue to serve as Business Head – Transportation, where he oversees Cyient’s global transportation business. The division supports customers operating in safety-critical and highly regulated industries, delivering engineering, digital, and technology solutions for rail transportation, mobility systems, and related infrastructure. Maintaining this dual leadership role enables Cyient to continue benefiting from Smith’s extensive expertise in transportation engineering while aligning operational excellence across the broader organisation.
