By Tom Skubala
Italy – The final day of MTDCNC’s European road trip with the SMW Autoblok Group has concluded, bringing to an end an insightful week of factory tours, interviews, and behind-the-scenes access across Germany and Italy.
Tom Skubala and Chris Thomas spent their final day at SMW AUTOBLOK’s Italian headquarters, where they were given a unique opportunity to explore the company’s heritage, manufacturing expertise, and future vision.

A key highlight of the visit was an interview with Walter Bronzino, son of the company’s founder, who shared the story of how SMW AUTOBLOK began and the journey that has transformed the business into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of workholding solutions. The discussion provided valuable insight into the company’s history, growth, and the values that continue to shape its success today.

The MTDCNC team also met with Marco Bronzino, who explained the manufacturing processes behind SMW AUTOBLOK’s extensive product range. From raw material to finished solution, the interview highlighted the precision engineering, quality control, and production expertise required to supply customers around the globe.
Further discussions with Pier Domenico Bronzino focused on the company’s approach to automation and operational excellence. He explained how standardised setups, streamlined processes, and continuous investment in technology help SMW AUTOBLOK maintain its competitive advantage while ensuring products are delivered efficiently and on schedule.
Throughout the day, Larry Robbins once again guided the team through the facility, showcasing a range of advanced workholding technologies. Among the standout highlights were some of the company’s largest solutions, including workholding chucks measuring up to 2.5 metres in diameter, demonstrating the scale and capability of SMW AUTOBLOK’s engineering expertise.
With cameras rolling throughout the week, MTDCNC has captured a wealth of content that will provide viewers with an exclusive look inside the people, products, facilities, and technologies that drive the SMW Autoblok Group. The full series of interviews, factory tours, and technical features will be released across MTDCNC’s digital platforms in the coming weeks.
MTDCNC would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone at SMW AUTOBLOK in both Germany and Italy for their hospitality, support, and openness throughout the visit. Special thanks also go to Larry Robbins for his guidance, knowledge, and commitment in helping make the trip such a memorable and informative experience.
The road trip may be complete, but the stories are only just beginning.
