Maruti Suzuki India Limited has taken another significant step toward strengthening India’s manufacturing workforce by establishing an Advanced Manufacturing Lab (AML) at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Hassangarh, Rohtak. The initiative is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to support the Government of India’s Skill India mission and develop a highly skilled talent pool capable of meeting the evolving demands of the automotive and advanced manufacturing industries.

As India continues its journey toward becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse, the need for industry-ready professionals equipped with practical skills has become increasingly important. Recognizing this requirement, Maruti Suzuki has developed the Advanced Manufacturing Lab to provide students with hands-on exposure to real-world manufacturing processes, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industrial application.

The state-of-the-art facility has been designed to closely replicate modern shop-floor environments, allowing students to experience the operational realities of contemporary manufacturing facilities. By simulating actual production conditions, the lab provides a practical learning platform that enhances technical understanding and prepares students for careers in the automotive and industrial sectors.

The Advanced Manufacturing Lab covers several critical areas of modern manufacturing, including assembly operations, welding technologies, painting processes, machining techniques, mechatronics systems, and industrial safety practices. These disciplines represent core competencies required across today’s automotive production ecosystem and are increasingly essential as factories adopt advanced manufacturing technologies and automation-driven processes.

Through a combination of structured training programs and experiential learning, students will gain practical knowledge of manufacturing operations while developing the technical confidence needed to succeed in industrial environments. The initiative aims to improve employability by ensuring that trainees acquire skills aligned with current industry expectations and future technological developments.

During its inaugural year, approximately 200 students from Government ITI Hassangarh are expected to undergo training at the facility. The program forms an integral part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy focused on skill development, workforce empowerment, and supporting India’s manufacturing growth ambitions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sachin Gupta, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Rohtak, along with senior officials from Maruti Suzuki and representatives from the institute. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and educational institutions in building a skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s industrial transformation.

Speaking at the inauguration, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, emphasized that the Advanced Manufacturing Lab brings real production-line learning directly into the educational environment. He noted that the initiative has been carefully designed to provide students with practical exposure to modern manufacturing systems while helping them build the technical expertise and confidence required for industry-specific roles.

According to Bharti, the lab represents Maruti Suzuki’s continued commitment to supporting long-term skill development goals and ensuring that young professionals are equipped to contribute effectively to India’s rapidly evolving manufacturing sector. By creating opportunities for hands-on learning, the company aims to nurture a workforce that is prepared for the challenges and opportunities presented by advanced manufacturing technologies.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta described the establishment of the facility as an important milestone in Rohtak’s journey toward becoming a center of excellence for vocational education and skill development. He highlighted the role of advanced training infrastructure in helping students acquire industry-relevant competencies and improve their career prospects.

Gupta further noted that initiatives such as the Advanced Manufacturing Lab contribute directly to India’s broader vision of industrial growth, self-reliance, and economic development. By providing access to modern technologies and practical training environments, educational institutions can better prepare students to participate in the country’s expanding manufacturing ecosystem.

A key highlight of the event was the distribution of apprenticeship offer letters to selected students who will join Maruti Suzuki after completing their training programs. This direct industry linkage demonstrates the practical impact of the initiative and provides students with a clear pathway from education to employment.

The apprenticeship opportunities not only offer valuable workplace experience but also reinforce the effectiveness of industry-academia collaboration in creating job-ready talent. By integrating training with employment prospects, Maruti Suzuki is helping ensure that students can smoothly transition into professional careers while contributing to the growth of India’s automotive industry.

Maruti Suzuki has consistently been at the forefront of workforce development initiatives within the Indian automotive sector. Through partnerships with technical institutions, vocational training programs, and skill development projects, the company has played a vital role in enhancing manufacturing capabilities and supporting the creation of a future-ready workforce.

The establishment of the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at ITI Hassangarh further strengthens this commitment. By providing students with access to modern manufacturing technologies, practical learning opportunities, and direct industry engagement, the initiative supports both individual career development and the broader advancement of India’s manufacturing ecosystem.

As the automotive and manufacturing sectors continue to evolve through digitalization, automation, and advanced production technologies, the demand for skilled professionals will continue to rise. Facilities such as the Advanced Manufacturing Lab ensure that students are equipped with the technical knowledge, practical experience, and industry exposure necessary to thrive in this dynamic environment.

Through this investment in skill development, Maruti Suzuki is not only preparing the next generation of manufacturing professionals but also contributing to India’s long-term vision of becoming a globally competitive manufacturing and innovation hub. The initiative stands as a strong example of how industry-led training programs can support economic growth, workforce development, and sustainable industrial progress.
