MANN+HUMMEL Group has inaugurated its new Global Technology & Innovation Center in Tumkur, Karnataka, significantly expanding its engineering and research capabilities in India while reinforcing the country’s position as a strategic hub for advanced filtration technologies and industrial innovation. The newly launched facility represents a major milestone in the company’s global growth strategy and becomes MANN+HUMMEL’s largest development center outside Germany.

The state-of-the-art center has been established to accelerate product innovation, engineering excellence, and customer-focused development across mobility, industrial, and environmental applications. According to the company, the facility integrates advanced research laboratories, testing infrastructure, digital engineering capabilities, and data analytics under a unified platform designed to support the development of next-generation filtration solutions.

MANN+HUMMEL stated that the Tumkur center will play a critical role in improving product development speed, strengthening collaboration with global customers, and expanding the company’s innovation capabilities across clean air, industrial filtration, and water purification technologies. By leveraging India’s growing engineering ecosystem and technical talent base, the company aims to position the facility as a key global innovation engine supporting worldwide operations.

Kurk Wilks, President and CEO of MANN+HUMMEL Group, said the launch of the center marks an important step in the company’s long-term technology and sustainability roadmap. He highlighted India’s strong engineering talent pool and rapidly evolving innovation environment as major reasons for establishing the company’s largest international development hub in the country.

The company emphasized that the facility will also contribute to its sustainability-focused initiatives by supporting the development of energy-efficient filtration systems, reducing lifecycle emissions, and advancing circular economy practices through environmentally responsible product design and the use of recycled materials.

The innovation center is expected to contribute to technologies addressing several critical environmental and industrial challenges, including air quality improvement, industrial emission reduction, water purification, and expanded access to clean water solutions. As industries and governments worldwide increasingly focus on sustainability and environmental compliance, demand for advanced filtration and purification technologies continues to rise across automotive, manufacturing, industrial processing, and environmental sectors.

In addition to the Tumkur innovation center, MANN+HUMMEL also announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra, to further strengthen its operational footprint in India. The upcoming Pune facility will support automotive, heavy-duty, industrial manufacturing, and engineering customers through an integrated production setup for advanced filtration systems.

The combined investment across the Tumkur and Pune projects is expected to exceed ₹100 crore, highlighting the company’s long-term commitment to expanding its presence in India’s industrial and technology ecosystem. MANN+HUMMEL currently employs around 1,250 people across its Indian operations and expects the new expansion initiatives to create an additional 300 to 400 jobs over the coming year.

The company already operates manufacturing facilities in Tumkur and Bawal, along with a global innovation center in Bengaluru. With the addition of the proposed Pune manufacturing site, MANN+HUMMEL is building a broad pan-India operational network designed to improve customer responsiveness, strengthen localized engineering support, and accelerate delivery of application-specific filtration solutions.

The expansion reflects India’s growing importance as a global center for engineering, manufacturing, and industrial innovation. International companies are increasingly investing in Indian research, development, and production capabilities due to the country’s strong technical workforce, expanding industrial infrastructure, and rising domestic market opportunities.

MANN+HUMMEL’s latest investment also aligns with broader industry trends where companies are focusing on sustainable technologies, digital engineering, and environmentally responsible manufacturing systems to address future industrial and environmental challenges. Advanced filtration systems are becoming increasingly critical across sectors such as automotive, industrial processing, clean energy, healthcare, water management, and environmental protection.

Through the Tumkur Global Technology & Innovation Center and its planned manufacturing expansion in Pune, MANN+HUMMEL aims to strengthen its global innovation network while supporting the development of cleaner, more efficient, and sustainability-focused industrial technologies from India.
