Endurance Technologies Ltd. has announced plans to significantly expand its anti-lock braking system (ABS) production capacity in response to the growing demand for advanced safety technologies in India’s two-wheeler industry. The company aims to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving automotive safety segment as regulatory changes continue to accelerate the adoption of ABS across a broader range of motorcycles and scooters.

As part of the expansion initiative, Endurance Technologies plans to increase its annual ABS production capacity by an additional 1.2 million units by September 2026. The expansion will raise the company’s total ABS manufacturing capacity from the current 640,000 units to approximately 1.84 million units annually. The move reflects the company’s long-term strategy to align with upcoming regulatory requirements and growing market demand for safer two-wheelers in India.

Anti-lock braking systems play a critical role in improving vehicle safety by preventing wheel lock during sudden or emergency braking situations. By allowing riders to maintain better steering control and vehicle stability, ABS technology significantly reduces the risk of skidding and accidents, especially on wet, uneven, or slippery road surfaces. The technology has become increasingly important as road safety awareness grows among consumers and policymakers.

Currently, ABS is mandatory primarily for higher-engine-capacity motorcycles in India, while smaller two-wheelers are generally equipped with combined braking systems (CBS). However, the Indian government has been moving toward broader implementation of ABS technology across the two-wheeler market.

The company’s expansion plans are closely linked to a draft government guideline issued in June 2025 proposing mandatory ABS adoption for lower-engine-capacity two-wheelers as well. According to the proposed regulations, all two-wheelers manufactured from January 1, 2026, onward would be required to include ABS technology as a standard safety feature.

This regulatory shift is expected to substantially increase demand for ABS systems across India’s two-wheeler manufacturing ecosystem. With India being one of the world’s largest two-wheeler markets, the widespread implementation of ABS is anticipated to create major growth opportunities for automotive component suppliers specializing in braking and safety technologies.

Speaking during an analyst call, Managing Director Anurang Jain highlighted that the company’s capacity expansion aligns directly with the government’s proposed safety guidelines. He noted that the draft regulations extending ABS requirements to lower-engine-capacity vehicles played a key role in the company’s decision to increase production capabilities.

The expansion underscores Endurance Technologies’ commitment to supporting the evolving needs of the automotive industry while contributing to enhanced road safety standards in India. By proactively scaling its manufacturing capacity ahead of anticipated regulatory implementation, the company aims to ensure it can meet future demand from two-wheeler manufacturers across the country.

The development also reflects the broader transformation taking place in India’s automotive sector, where safety technologies are becoming increasingly important alongside performance, fuel efficiency, and affordability. As government regulations continue to focus on reducing road accidents and improving rider protection, advanced braking systems such as ABS are expected to become standard across a wider segment of the market.

With the planned expansion, Endurance Technologies is positioning itself to play a larger role in India’s growing automotive safety ecosystem while strengthening its capabilities in high-volume, technology-driven component manufacturing.
