Turner Industries Expands Nuclear Manufacturing Footprint in Louisiana with Two New Facilities!
Turner Industries has announced a major expansion of its nuclear manufacturing capabilities with the development of two new fabrication facilities in New Iberia and Port Allen. The initiative is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs in total, with around 500 positions at each site, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting the growing demand for nuclear energy infrastructure in the United States.
The new facilities will focus on the production of high-precision modules and nuclear-grade piping systems used in nuclear reactors and advanced modular power plants. By specialising in these critical components, Turner Industries is positioning itself to play a key role in the next generation of nuclear energy projects, particularly as interest grows in small modular reactors (SMRs) and other advanced nuclear technologies.
A key aspect of the expansion is the emphasis on modular construction. Both facilities are designed to support the fabrication and assembly of large components in controlled environments before being transported to project sites. This approach improves quality, enhances safety, and reduces construction timelines compared to traditional on-site assembly methods.
The New Iberia facility features approximately 90,000 square feet of indoor fabrication space, along with a 420-foot dock that enables direct transportation of large modules. The site is capable of handling modules weighing up to 6,000 tons, making it well-suited for large-scale nuclear infrastructure projects that require heavy, precision-engineered components.
Meanwhile, the Port Allen site spans 75 acres and is dedicated to pipe fabrication and finishing processes, including painting. The facility has the capacity to produce up to 6,500 pipe spools per month, supporting the high-volume requirements of nuclear and energy projects. This specialised capability complements the modular fabrication operations at New Iberia, creating a coordinated manufacturing ecosystem across both locations.
The expansion reflects broader trends in the energy sector, where nuclear power is gaining renewed attention as a reliable and low-carbon energy source. As governments and industries invest in advanced nuclear technologies, the need for high-quality, domestically produced components is increasing.
By investing in these facilities, Turner Industries is not only expanding its manufacturing capacity but also contributing to workforce development and regional economic growth in Louisiana. The creation of skilled jobs across fabrication, engineering, and operations is expected to strengthen the local industrial base and support long-term economic activity.
Overall, the project underscores Turner Industries’ strategic focus on high-precision manufacturing and its role in supporting the evolving energy landscape. With advanced facilities, modular construction capabilities, and a strong workforce, the company is well-positioned to contribute to the future of nuclear energy infrastructure in the United States.
