InnovMetric and Faro Creaform integrate 3D scanning with PolyWorks to streamline inspection workflows!
InnovMetric, in collaboration with Faro Creaform, has introduced a fully integrated solution that enables direct data acquisition from metrology-grade 3D scanners into PolyWorks|Inspector. The integration is designed to simplify inspection workflows, improve efficiency and enhance quality control processes across manufacturing environments.
The collaboration allows operators to capture data directly from Faro Creaform’s auto-referencing multi-line 3D scanners within the PolyWorks|Inspector environment. This eliminates the need to switch between multiple software platforms, enabling real-time data visualization and immediate access to a comprehensive dimensional analysis toolkit during the scanning process.
One of the most significant advantages of this integration is the reduction in the learning curve for operators. By maintaining a single software interface, manufacturers can leverage existing operator expertise and avoid the need for additional training on separate scanning and inspection systems. This approach not only accelerates onboarding but also improves productivity by allowing teams to focus on measurement and analysis rather than software navigation.
The solution also enables faster time to production. Since operators can continue using established workflows and processes, manufacturers can achieve operational efficiency more quickly. The integration ensures that metrology-grade handheld 3D scanners can be seamlessly incorporated into existing inspection routines without disrupting production environments.
Compatibility is another key strength of the integrated system. Data captured from Faro Creaform scanners is fully aligned with PolyWorks|Inspector’s advanced capabilities, including automatic scan-to-CAD alignment, guided surface and feature scanning, mixed-reality measurement workflows and automation macro scripting. This ensures that manufacturers can maintain high levels of accuracy and consistency across inspection tasks.
According to Marco St-Pierre, global OEMs often rely on standardized PolyWorks measurement templates to enforce quality compliance across multiple facilities. The integration allows Faro Creaform scanners to work directly within these templates without requiring custom scripts or additional configuration. This simplifies large-scale deployment and ensures consistent inspection logic and reporting across geographically distributed manufacturing operations.
Éric Roberge highlighted that the integration extends the PolyWorks digital thread by enabling seamless data flow from acquisition to analysis. By connecting scanning hardware directly with inspection software, manufacturers can maintain continuity throughout the measurement process without interruptions or data transfer issues.
The integrated workflow also supports hybrid inspection strategies, where portable 3D scanners are used alongside coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) within a single environment. This flexibility allows manufacturers to choose the most appropriate inspection method for different applications while maintaining a unified data and analysis platform.
As manufacturers increasingly adopt digital quality control systems, solutions that integrate hardware and software seamlessly are becoming essential. By combining advanced 3D scanning technology with powerful inspection software, InnovMetric and Faro Creaform are helping manufacturers improve measurement accuracy, streamline workflows and enhance overall productivity.
This collaboration reflects a broader trend toward connected, data-driven manufacturing environments, where real-time insights and integrated systems play a critical role in ensuring quality, efficiency and competitiveness.
