Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna public sector enterprise under India’s Ministry of Defence, has entered into a strategic partnership with SASMOS HET Technologies Limited to strengthen indigenous capabilities in defence electronics manufacturing. The collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding exchanged between Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, and HG Chandrashekar, Chairman and Managing Director of SASMOS.

The agreement was exchanged earlier in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, highlighting the importance of the collaboration in supporting India’s defence manufacturing strategy. The partnership aims to increase the localization of high-value electronic components used in advanced defence systems and strengthen domestic supply chains.

Under the terms of the MoU, BEL and SASMOS will combine their technical expertise in defence electronics, system integration and aerospace-grade manufacturing to develop mission-critical systems for defence applications. The collaboration will focus on technologies used across airborne, naval and land-based military platforms.

Key areas of cooperation include high-reliability photonics and fibre optic systems, avionics and mission-critical electronics, aerospace-grade interconnect technologies, electro-mechanical assemblies and advanced electronic subsystems used in strategic defence programs. The agreement also provides a framework for the two companies to jointly participate in domestic defence projects as well as export-oriented opportunities.

During the ceremony, SASMOS presented an installation-ready subsystem designed for a naval radar communication network. The subsystem was developed and qualified by SASMOS engineers within six months, demonstrating the growing capability of Indian companies to design and manufacture complex defence technologies within accelerated timelines.

The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s initiatives aimed at strengthening domestic defence manufacturing, particularly the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat programs. These initiatives encourage the development of indigenous technologies and the expansion of India’s domestic defence production ecosystem.

Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, stated that the company continues to expand partnerships with capable domestic industry players to increase localization and improve execution of defence programs. He noted that the collaboration with SASMOS will help strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities in critical electronic assemblies and interconnect technologies while also supporting BEL’s export growth plans.

HG Chandrashekar, Chairman and Managing Director of SASMOS HET Technologies Limited, emphasized that the partnership reinforces SASMOS’ position as a trusted manufacturing partner for advanced defence systems. He highlighted the company’s focus on delivering precision engineering, strict quality assurance and scalable production capabilities required for complex defence programs.

By combining BEL’s extensive experience in defence electronics and system integration with SASMOS’ expertise in aerospace-grade interconnect and manufacturing technologies, the partnership aims to further deepen India’s indigenous defence supply chain and accelerate the development of advanced electronic systems for future defence platforms.
