The INDEX Group, a global manufacturer of advanced CNC turning machines under the INDEX and TRAUB brands, has strengthened its presence in India with the inauguration of a new branch and integrated Technology Center in the Aerospace Park in Bengaluru. The facility officially opened on February 27, 2026, representing an important milestone in the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in one of the fastest-growing industrial markets in Asia.

The newly established branch includes dedicated office space for sales, application engineering, technology support, customer service and administrative functions. In addition, the facility features a spacious showroom equipped with modern demonstration machines. This area will serve as a platform for hosting customer events, conducting test machining trials and showcasing the latest CNC turning technologies. By providing a hands-on environment for demonstrations and technical discussions, the center aims to strengthen engagement with Indian manufacturers and support their decision-making processes.

The Bengaluru center will operate under the leadership of Wilson Thomas, Managing Director of INDEX Machine Tools India Pvt Ltd. According to the company, the investment highlights its long-term commitment to the Indian market and its strategy of building closer relationships with customers through localized support, application expertise and technology collaboration.

The INDEX Group has maintained a presence in India for more than 25 years through sales and service operations. In 2023, the company formally established INDEX Machine Tools India Pvt Ltd to further expand its activities in the country. The launch of the new Technology Center marks the next phase of this expansion, enabling the company to meet the growing demands of India’s manufacturing sector with improved local resources and infrastructure.

The company offers a wide portfolio of CNC turning technologies designed to address diverse manufacturing needs. These include multi-spindle automatic lathes, universal turning machines, sliding-headstock automatic lathes, turn-mill centers and production turning machines. Such solutions are widely used in industries such as automotive manufacturing, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and hydraulic and fluid technology.

A major strength of the INDEX Group lies in its ability to combine machine technology with application consulting and process optimization. The company also provides comprehensive automation solutions and support services, enabling manufacturers to enhance productivity and efficiency across their machining operations. Through its new facility in Bengaluru, INDEX aims to provide Indian customers with faster access to these capabilities, including application engineering support and process development.

Wilson Thomas emphasized that the new Technology Center represents a significant milestone for the company’s operations in India. He noted that the Indian market plays an important role in the INDEX Group’s global growth strategy. The new center will allow the company to support customers more effectively by offering services ranging from technical consulting and machining trials to after-sales technical assistance. This localized support is expected to shorten decision-making timelines and foster stronger long-term partnerships with Indian industrial companies.

Dr. Dirk Prust, Chairman of the Management Board at INDEX Group’s global headquarters in Esslingen, Germany, also highlighted the strategic importance of the new facility. He stated that the Bengaluru Technology Center demonstrates the company’s confidence in the growth potential of the Indian manufacturing sector. According to him, direct engagement with customers remains essential for delivering effective technical solutions and building strong industrial partnerships.

With six production sites worldwide and a strong global presence, the INDEX Group continues to combine international expertise with localized technical support. The new Bengaluru center reflects this approach by bringing global machining technologies closer to Indian manufacturers while enabling more collaborative innovation and application development in the region.
