SANY India has supported the first all-women batch of excavator operators at the National Academy of Construction (NAC) in Andhra Pradesh, marking an important development in workforce diversity and skill development within India’s infrastructure and construction equipment sector. The initiative reflects growing efforts across the industry to expand opportunities for women in technical and equipment-operation roles traditionally dominated by male workers.

A total of 22 women trainees successfully completed the excavator operator training programme in March 2026 after undergoing a structured learning process that combined theoretical instruction with hands-on equipment training. The course was designed to equip participants with the operational skills required for real-world construction and infrastructure projects.

The practical component of the programme was conducted using the SANY SY120 excavator, which was provided by SANY India to support the training initiative. The equipment enabled trainees to gain direct experience in operating construction machinery, helping them understand key aspects such as machine control, excavation techniques, safety practices and site coordination.

To ensure the quality and relevance of the training programme, instructors at the National Academy of Construction were trained and certified by SANY India before delivering the course. This step ensured that the curriculum and training approach reflected current industry practices and operational requirements commonly encountered on infrastructure and construction project sites.

The training programme was developed in alignment with the certification framework of the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC), which promotes skill development for the infrastructure equipment industry in India. Certification under the IESC framework helps improve employability for equipment operator roles and provides trainees with recognized credentials that can support career opportunities across construction and infrastructure projects nationwide.

Following the completion of the programme, the National Academy of Construction will provide placement assistance to help trainees transition from training into employment. This support is intended to bridge the gap between skill development initiatives and actual job opportunities in the construction sector, where demand for trained equipment operators continues to grow.

The certificate distribution ceremony took place on March 6, 2026, at the NAC campus in Pulivendula in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district. Madhusudan Katragadda, Dealer Principal of Madhura Engineering Pvt Ltd, attended the event as the chief guest and presented certificates to the graduating trainees.

Representatives from SANY India, NAC faculty members and academy staff were also present at the ceremony. The trainees expressed enthusiasm as they received their certifications and prepared to begin professional careers in the construction equipment industry.

The initiative highlights increasing attention to workforce development, operator training and diversity within India’s infrastructure sector. As the country continues to invest heavily in roads, urban development, industrial corridors and other infrastructure projects, programs like this play an important role in expanding the pool of skilled equipment operators while encouraging greater participation of women in technical and operational roles.
