Kabelschlepp India, part of the Tsubaki Group, has strengthened its manufacturing capabilities with the installation of a state-of-the-art Vertical Machining Center (VMC) at its Indian facility. The addition of this advanced CNC system, integrated with robotic automation, marks a significant step toward elevating precision engineering and production efficiency within the company’s operations.

The newly installed VMC is designed to handle advanced milling, drilling, tapping and multi-axis machining processes. Featuring a vertical spindle orientation, an automatic tool changer and a sophisticated CNC control system, the machine enhances dimensional accuracy, repeatability and operational consistency. According to the company, the integration is expected to increase overall productivity by approximately 30 percent while reducing setup and cycle times by nearly half, effectively doubling output efficiency in key operations.

A defining feature of the new setup is its seamless integration with industrial robotics. In the automated cell, a robot collaborates directly with the VMC by picking raw components, positioning them accurately in fixtures and removing finished parts after machining. This automated loading and unloading process replaces traditional manual handling, reducing human intervention while improving precision and workflow continuity. The result is a smarter, more streamlined manufacturing environment capable of supporting high-volume and repetitive machining tasks.

The inauguration ceremony underscored the strategic importance of India in Kabelschlepp’s global growth strategy. The event was attended by Henning Preis, President and CEO of the Kabelschlepp Group; Jörg Schulz, Vice President of Production; and Srinivas P. Kamisetty, Managing Director of Kabelschlepp India. Leadership emphasized that the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening localized production and supporting smart manufacturing initiatives.

Henning Preis highlighted that the advanced VMC installation reinforces the group’s dedication to enhancing efficiency and maintaining world-class quality standards in India. He pointed to automation and digital manufacturing as key drivers of future growth, particularly in emerging industrial markets.

Srinivas P. Kamisetty noted that the investment aligns with the company’s focused approach to increasing manufacturing agility and technological capability. By expanding local machining capacity, Kabelschlepp India aims to reduce lead times, improve quality consistency and better serve customers across industries requiring high-performance cable carriers and motion control systems.

The integration of the VMC is expected to deliver multiple operational advantages, including higher production output through continuous operation, tighter dimensional control and improved tolerance management. It also reduces manual handling, operator fatigue and the risk of errors, while minimizing material waste and rejection rates. Enhanced workplace safety and greater process consistency are additional benefits of the automated setup.

By enabling multiple machining operations within a single setup, the system improves accuracy and eliminates unnecessary repositioning. This strategic investment positions Kabelschlepp India to optimise production planning, accelerate delivery timelines and meet increasing demand for precision-engineered solutions in automation-intensive industries.
