Shakti Pumps (India) Limited Secures Fresh MPUVNL Order Under PM-KUSUM to Deploy 1,952 Solar Water Pumps in Madhya Pradesh!
Shakti Pumps (India) Limited, a prominent Indian manufacturer of energy-efficient pumps and motors, has received a new work order from Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) for the supply, installation, and commissioning of 1,952 stand-alone off-grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems. The project has been awarded under Component-B of the Government of India’s flagship PM-KUSUM scheme and will be implemented across the state of Madhya Pradesh.
The latest order further strengthens Shakti Pumps’ position in the renewable energy and solar irrigation segment, reaffirming the confidence placed by state nodal agencies in the company’s execution capabilities, product reliability, and technological expertise. The project is designed to deliver sustainable and affordable irrigation solutions to farmers, particularly in off-grid and remote regions where access to conventional electricity remains limited. By replacing diesel-based and grid-dependent pumping systems, the initiative is expected to significantly lower operating costs for farmers while promoting cleaner energy use in agriculture.
As part of the scope of work, Shakti Pumps will deploy advanced DC solar pumping systems integrated with high-efficiency photovoltaic modules and intelligent controllers. These systems are engineered to operate efficiently under varying solar irradiance conditions, ensuring dependable water supply for agricultural irrigation. The solutions also emphasize energy efficiency and water conservation, helping farmers optimize resource usage while improving crop productivity. The statewide rollout is expected to support rural livelihoods by enabling more reliable irrigation and reducing exposure to volatile fuel costs.
Component-B of the PM-KUSUM scheme focuses on the installation of stand-alone solar-powered agriculture pumps, allowing farmers to become less dependent on grid electricity and fossil fuels. The programme plays a key role in India’s broader clean energy and sustainability agenda by lowering carbon emissions, reducing subsidy burdens on conventional power, and encouraging decentralized renewable energy adoption. Projects such as this contribute directly to the transition toward climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural practices.
Shakti Pumps has been an active participant in PM-KUSUM implementations across multiple Indian states and has steadily expanded its footprint in the solar water pumping market. The company’s vertically integrated manufacturing facilities, in-house research and development capabilities, and wide service network provide it with a strong foundation to execute large-scale projects efficiently and within stipulated timelines. Its experience in handling end-to-end project delivery—from supply and installation to commissioning and after-sales support—has positioned the company as a preferred partner for renewable energy-led irrigation initiatives.
The new MPUVNL order also adds depth to Shakti Pumps’ existing order book, providing greater revenue visibility while reinforcing its role in India’s renewable energy ecosystem. As state and central governments continue to promote solar-powered irrigation as a cornerstone of sustainable agriculture, Shakti Pumps is expected to remain a key contributor through technology-driven solutions that balance performance, durability, and environmental responsibility. This latest project underscores the company’s long-term commitment to supporting farmers, advancing clean energy adoption, and contributing to inclusive rural development across India.
