TVS Motor Company Reinforces Grassroots Motorsports Development with PETRONAS TVS India One Make Championship 2026!

Sunday 4 January 2026, 10:25:06 AM

TVS Motor Company (TVSM) has announced the PETRONAS TVS India One Make Championship (OMC) 2026 Training and Selection Program, underlining TVS Racing’s continued commitment to building India’s future racing talent through a structured, training-led, and safety-first approach. The nationwide selection trials for the 2026 season will be conducted between January 17 and February 7, 2026, across Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata, with the final selection round scheduled at the Madras International Circuit (MIC), Chennai.

The 2026 season carries added significance as the TVS Apache brand completes 20 years of racing-inspired performance development. Rooted in TVS Racing’s long-standing “Track to Road” philosophy, the championship reflects how learnings from competitive motorsport continue to shape motorcycle engineering, rider training, and performance culture at TVS. Over the years, this philosophy has helped bridge professional racing with accessible motorsport platforms, nurturing riders while strengthening India’s organised racing ecosystem.

Commenting on the announcement, Vimal Sumbly, Head Business – Premium, TVS Motor Company, said that the One Make Championship has always focused on building racers rather than merely hosting races. He emphasised that the program plays a crucial role in delivering structured training, professional race preparation, and instilling a strong culture of discipline and safety. As the Apache brand marks two decades of racing-led engineering, the 2026 edition reaffirms TVS Motor Company’s intent to make circuit racing more accessible while maintaining high standards of rider development and safety.

The PETRONAS TVS India OMC follows a training-intensive and safety-first model, with participants training and racing on race-prepared TVS Apache motorcycles developed using TVS Racing’s more than four decades of motorsport experience. Riders are provided with professional-grade safety equipment, including Alpinestars airbag jackets, FIM-certified helmets, and FIM-spec racing suits, ensuring international safety standards across all categories. Each motorcycle is individually tuned to suit rider requirements, balancing consistent performance with rider safety.

TVS Racing has been actively involved in motorsports for over 43 years, and since the launch of the TVS India One Make Championship in 1994, more than 3,000 riders have undergone professional training and competitive race exposure. This sustained effort has played a pivotal role in the development of India’s motorsports talent pipeline.

The 2026 season features multiple categories catering to riders at different stages of their racing journey. The TVS Rookie OMC, introduced in 2022, serves as an entry-level platform for young riders competing on race-spec TVS Apache RTR 200 motorcycles and has already trained over 100 riders. The TVS Apache RR 310 OMC, launched in 2018, is aimed at experienced racers and has seen more than 300 participants, many of whom have progressed to national and international championships. The TVS Women’s OMC, India’s first all-women racing championship launched in 2016, has trained over 500 women riders to date, offering professional coaching and competitive racing opportunities. In addition, the TVS Young Media Racer Program, introduced in 2017, provides automotive journalists and motorsports influencers hands-on racing experience, with 2026 participants competing on TVS Apache RTR 310 motorcycles.

Through the PETRONAS TVS India One Make Championship 2026, TVS Motor Company continues to strengthen India’s motorsports foundation by combining professional training, global safety standards, and inclusive participation. The program reinforces TVS Racing’s role not just as a racing organisation, but as a long-term talent development platform shaping the future of Indian circuit racing.
