Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT), a leading global player in the off-highway tyre segment, has successfully completed the commissioning of its new carbon black production line, marking a major milestone in the company’s backward integration strategy. With this addition, BKT’s total carbon black manufacturing capacity has increased to 265,000 tonnes per annum.

The newly commissioned line significantly strengthens BKT’s ability to meet internal demand for a critical raw material, enhancing supply security, cost efficiency, and operational flexibility. Carbon black is a key input in tyre manufacturing, and the expanded in-house capacity is expected to support BKT’s growing production requirements across its global manufacturing operations.

This investment underlines BKT’s continued focus on value-chain optimisation and manufacturing resilience. By expanding in-house carbon black production, the company aims to reduce reliance on external suppliers, improve quality consistency, and reinforce long-term competitiveness in the global off-highway tyre market.

The expanded facility incorporates advanced process technologies and aligns with BKT’s sustainability objectives, including improved energy efficiency and responsible resource utilisation. The company continues to prioritise safe operations, environmental stewardship, and compliance with global manufacturing standards across all its facilities.

With this development, Balkrishna Industries further strengthens its position as a fully integrated global tyre manufacturer, supporting future growth while maintaining high levels of operational excellence.

Established in 1987, BKT specialises in off-highway tyres for agriculture, construction, mining, forestry, and industrial applications, serving customers in over 160 countries across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia. The company is widely recognised for its focus on niche segments, strong R&D capabilities, and sustained investments in backward integration—including carbon black and power generation—to enhance supply reliability and cost competitiveness.

Sustainability remains central to BKT’s strategy, with ongoing initiatives focused on energy efficiency, waste reduction, environmental responsibility, and strong governance, reinforcing its commitment to responsible and future-ready manufacturing.
